Woori is back home!
A little while back, we asked for name suggestions for an injured turtle that was in the care of the Quoin Island Turtle Rehabilitation Centre. The name WOORI was selected - its name, from the Gooreng Gooreng language, means STRONG. The great news is that WOORI was ready to be released back where he was found.
Our friends from the Quoin Island Turtle Rehabilitation Centre report the following:
"CEO Toni Brennan was so excited to release Woori, that she flew up from Brisbane especially for it. She got to name Woori after Fun Over 50 very generously donated $ 5’000 to our centre earlier this year. We really enjoyed seeing Toni release her “very own” turtle.
Woori was in care with us for 55 days. He was found floating in the Boyne River and was underweight as he hadn’t been able to dive down to forage for food. The Boyne River is quite busy with boat traffic, so he was very lucky that he didn’t get struck by a boat while floating on the surface.
Woori’s blood work looked good. As expected though, he was literally sitting on top of the water and couldn’t dive at all during the swim test in our main rehab pool. We extracted a huge amount of gas, almost 5 litres, out of him and put him on a course of antibiotics and parasite treatment. You could almost see the relief on his face when he was able to dive down again with great ease. Once his floating syndrome was resolved, Woori started to get interest in feeding and was gaining weight and strength quickly. He only needed 55 days in care, which is great compared to the average stay of our patients which is currently 77 days.
Fun Over 50 have been very supportive of our centre throughout the years, and we’re very grateful for their support" 💚
Boaties: Woori was released in the Boyne River Mouth. Please be mindful of him and all his turtle friends there. It is breading season at the moment, and the area near the bridge is a well known mating spot. The turtles are “a bit busy” durin

Fitzroy Crossing
Darwin, Kakadu, Kimberley, and Broome - departed 4 May 2023
What a wonderful sight; our golden girl Alva-Rita at the low-level Fitzroy River crossing.
Several months ago, heavy rain caused major flooding in the area, with flood water taking out the main bridge that connects both sides. We are so grateful that the crossing has been built in time to allow our wonderful guests to complete their journey onboard our luxury gold class coach.
Do you wish to travel on this tour? We are taking last seat bookings on our 5 July 2023 date - call our office on 1300 554 505 to enquire now.

Coach4Cause - Rosewood
Coach4Cause – Rosewood
Last week, a delightful group from Living Gems in Toowoomba partnered with us for another Coach4Cause mission, this time headed to Rosewood, QLD.
After devastating floods last year the small town lies just outside the main city and has not been offered the same focus for support. So many of the towns businesses are still in recovery mode.
Coach4Cause is a FREE shopping tour to support flood affected areas where a small gesture can have a huge impact.
The 27 guests spent their shopping dollars over 3 hours visiting the shops, artisian stores, charity shops and local cafes, in total leaving $2352 in expenditure.
In addition the group also went to the local supermarket and purchased non-perishable food items that have been donated to Loaves and Fishes Care Services who provide a meal program for unemployed and homeless, food parcels to those in tough times.
Let’s continue to support these areas by providing acts of kindness. Grab your friends, villages or community group together and connect with us to organise your Coach4Cause mission.
