I never thought I would say it but I miss the red dirt. It is funny how you can look back on a memory and the very thing that drove you completely nuts is the thing you miss the most.

I miss our clothes constantly being dirty, our feet being red regardless of how much you wash them but most of all I miss the memories like these that we created amongst it.

Struggling to comprehend that it was 12 months ago that we left Sydney 😱

Hard to believe how much this little one has grown - left with a baby and now have a teenager (ok, a toddler but some days it feels the same!!)

Missing days like this 💕

It’s funny, at about the 7 month mark of our travels we decided that we needed to stop and work for a while. We felt we were taking the trip for granted and the more people we spoke to on the road the more people agreed that it gets that way. How is it possible that you can have too much of a good thing? It was only a few weeks later that we found out that baby # 2 was on the way so our short work trip was going to be a little longer.

Fast forward a couple of months and we are now settled into a house south of Perth after signing a 12 month lease. It’s what we need right now but we are already missing the travelling life!

Hey there little one - we can’t wait to meet you 💕

A fun day out at the Perth Zoo 🦏

We didn’t have the best weather while we were in Perth, however, we loved the rain and the cooler days, a welcome change to some of the 42 degree days we had been experiencing! The sun came out on the day before we left so off we went to the zoo - Lils had the best time 😍

Sometimes we do lots of touristy things and other times we spend huge amounts of time at the local parks.

In Geraldton and Jurien Bay we spent all our time at the parks. How can you not? Look at the joy on her face! 💕

Nature’s Window In Kalbarri National Park.

We were totally unprepared for how hot it was going to be. We had been enjoying some cooler weather so had many warm clothes packed for the day and then we got here at 10am and it was 38 degrees 😱 Thankfully it is only a small walk, however, this didn’t stop an older gentleman telling us off for Lily not wearing a hat 🤦🏼‍♀️ We would be stoked if she would wear one too but she just takes them off 😤

Having a whale of a time 🐳

There is something pretty special about sitting on the beach and watching the whales play in the distance. As soon as Jimmy saw them he had the drone up, what we didn’t expect was how long they were going to hang around for and how much of a show they were going to put on 😍 @ Warroora Station

Seriously, how good is this? Camping at 14 mile beach at Warroora Station about 30 minutes south of Coral Bay.

A great spot but in our opinion it is no Ningaloo Station. Ningaloo definitely took the cake for us as it provides a lot more private sites, here you are lined up similar to a caravan park! In saying that it is still a great spot and a lot more easily accessible than Ningaloo.

Bullara Station, we loved you! The perfect stop as you head down the coast towards Exmouth/Coral Bay.

We ended up only spending one night and it happened to be the last burger night of the season - WINNER! Not going to lie, we also couldn’t resist the famous scones for breakfast before we left!

If you come here you also can’t resist a shower under the lava trees - BEST SHOWER WE HAVE COME ACROSS 😍

*Reposting as our first post was taken down due to showing Lily’s bum!!*

PORT HEDLAND..

We had decided that we weren’t going to come back up to Port Hedland but a few wrong turns when we left Karijini meant we were not too far away so we decided to pop in (you would think our navigation skills would be up to scratch by now but we are HOPELESS!). We ended up spending four nights here. It was so nice to be able to escape the heat with the air con definitely getting a work out!

Jimmy got to do lots of fishing, we explored the town and we spent a whole lot of time in the caravan park pool! @ Port Hedland, Western Australia

Saving the best of our Karijini Spam for last..Spa Pool located in Hamersley Gorge..

Seriously how cool is this place? Such a winner. They don’t encourage you to go up to the Spa Pool anymore, however, it is worth it 😉

Be careful when you get out though as the rocks are super slippery. Jimmy and Lils had a big stack but thankfully both were ok 🙏🏼

Mornings well spent down at Fern Pool in Karijini National Park. Our favourite spot of the swimming spots near Dales Campground.

As soon as Lils woke up we headed to this magical spot. We had visited the afternoon prior and it was pretty busy so it was nice to have it all to ourselves. Nothing like early morning swims and breakfast at spots like these 💕 @ Fern Pool, Dales Gorge, Karijini National Park

Karijini.. WOW.. you impressed us!

We ended up staying 2 nights at Dales Campground even though we had booked for 3 nights. It was HOT HOT HOT and with no power we were struggling a bit. We smashed out everything we wanted to do and we walked away so glad that we came.

This was the walk through Hancock Gorge to Kermit Pool, the most challenging of the walks. It is only 1.5km long but you are required to climb up rock ledges, walk through water, and tackle the ‘spider walk’ to get to Kermit Pool. We were fortunate that being this late in the season we were able to walk through the usual ‘spider walk’ section. It was still rugged and slippery but slightly easier.

As you can see Lils was questioning our decision to walk through water with her - poor kid just wanted to eat her lunch. She will never be able to say that life has been boring!

...and just like that we are back in the Pilbara and all that red dirt!!

Our first stop was Tom Price, a few days of washing, cleaning and stocking up before we headed into Karijini! We loved our time here and loved catching up with a beautiful family that we met when we were at Ningaloo Station.

Sunset at Mount Nameless is a must if you are in the area. A short 4x4 track takes you to the top. As you can see Lils had a ball playing in the red dirt. She didn’t find it so amusing when she saw what she looked like - definitely gave herself a fright!! 😂

On Thursday night The Project was running a story on the Subsea 7 proposal to build a large oil and gas pipeline facility on the shores of Heron Point, deep in the Exmouth Gulf. In Subsea 7’s statement they outline: ‘The proposed Learmonth Pipeline Fabrication Facility will build pipeline bundles which consolidate all the communication lines, water pipes, electric cables, hydraulic systems, and heating lines needed for an offshore oil and gas facility inside one safe and secure outer steel carrier pipe’.

To say we were devastated to hear about this proposal was an understatement. Having just spent two weeks along the Ningaloo Coast at Ningaloo Station and Cape Range National Park it really hit home. We cannot begin to understand the complexity of this proposal and the true impact that it will have on the Ningaloo Reef but our question to you is – why is this even a question? Why are they even considering taking a risk on a proposal that has the ability to damage the beautiful Ningaloo Reef.

If you, like us, are outraged at this proposal please head over to the Protect Ningaloo website – https://www.protectningaloo.org.au/ where you can express your opinion to the premier. The Protect Ningaloo page is a wealth of knowledge and will be keeping everyone informed on the current status of this proposal and ways that you can involved.

Please do your part and let our future generations enjoy this area as it is today.

Osprey Bay Campground in Cape Range National Park. This campground is hard to beat, your own private walkway down to the reef 😍

When we left Sydney almost seven months ago we thought we would spend less time on the coast than we have and much more time inland, but we keep getting drawn back to the coast. Seriously, look at it!! 👀

Our plan

In March 2019, we will be setting off on a crazy adventure around this beautiful country that we are blessed to call home.

The day that our daughter, Lily, was born our outlook on life completely changed. It didn’t take us long to realise just how quickly she was growing up and that we didn’t want to miss a second of it. We had previously dreamt about travelling around Australia, however, we never thought we would be able to make it happen. One day we thought ‘why not’ and we started taking small steps to making our dreams a reality.

We will be capturing our adventures and documenting Lily growing up. We know that she won’t remember everything that we have done but it will shape the person that she will become and we cannot wait to experience it all with her.

We invite you to tag along on our journey of a lifetime.
