ROTORUA - fun town!
We managed to squeeze in a lot to our 2 days here!
✅ Skyline Gondola and Luge rides - it was too busy at our first attempt, so we went back around 5pm just as the tracks were being lit up for the night luge. Sooo much fun, different tracks to choose from with a restaurant and wine tasting at the top.

✅ Ultimate Canopy Ziplining Tour with Rotorua Canopy Tours - absolutely amazing and exhilarating ziplines throughout the forest. They also look after the conservation of the area.

✅ Mountain Biking through the Redwoods - I tried an e-bike for the first time, which was definitely the way to go! Gorgeous terrain, even for a beginner like me. (I wish I'd taken a bumbag for my phone!)

✅ Polynesian Spa Geothermal hotpools - a great outdoor location with many pools to choose from to soak away the aches from mountain biking.

✅ Novotel Lakeside Rotorua was a prefect location - across the road from the lake and Eatstreet and seemingly in the less smelly end of town.

✈️ Chimu Adventures put on the most incredible day on the Qantas Dreamliner on Sunday!! I'm still pinching myself and completely awestruck by the magnificent white continent. ✈️

I learned so much and am so grateful to have been on their last flight for the year....
Guest speakers, photography experts, a live satellite call to expeditioners skiing across Antarctica, a raffle and auction raising funds for the McGrath Foundation were just a few of the surprise bonuses...⛷️

NZ BORDER FULLY OPEN FROM AUGUST - INCLUDING TO CRUISING
PM Jacinda Ardern confirms full opening two months earlier than previous expectations.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has today announced a "major package of reforms" including the early reopening of the country's border - including its maritime border - and a simplification of immigration settings.

She said the moves aimed to address immediate skill shortages in NZ, as well as speed up the country's economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective from 11.59pm on 31 July cruise ships will be able to return, along with the full resumption of international education, and the reopening of online visitor visa applications to Pacific Island Forum countries (excluding Australia) from 16 May.

New wage agreements covering seasonal snow and adventure tourism sectors will also provide for a "short-term or ongoing need for access to lower-paid migrants," Ardern said.

"2 TIPS FOR TRAVELLING IN 2021

✅ 1. Book everything with flexibility. It really doesn't need to be said. But you must also have a flexible and open mindset.
Borders could close. It's out of your control. On a recent flight it was hard not to get excited and attached to my trip, and plan everything to the enth degree as I usually would.
It wasn't until I got on the plane, that I allowed myself to get really excited.

✅ 2. Manage your expectations. Make sure you read up on your destination before you go.
Hotels, transfer and tour companies may not have daily operations. And service levels may have dropped, if they had trouble maintaining or attracting staff.
Have back up plans, in the event that plans change at the last minute.

Overall, an open mind and active engagement with everyone around you will ensure you have an amazing experience! "

Do you prefer hotels or apartments?
I love the extra space of an apartment for 2 or more nights, and the facilities to have a leisurely brekkie.
One of my all time favourite apartments was Peppers Beacon Resort, Two Bedroom Apartment in Queenstown - where they even greeted us with a chocolate fondu and ahh-mazing mountain views!! ❤

Is Tasmania on your list? I've had a few enquiries lately, so I thought I'd share some details on my beautiful home state! This "Lap of Tassie" explains it well, with all the major areas included. Summer is obviously peak season, and with the whole country holidaying at home, it's a good idea to start thinking now if you would like to visit this summer. I can create packages based on your length of time away, your budget and the experiences you'd like to have.

As an example:
Flights 29 DEC - 12 JAN are $770 per person from Townsville. (limited availability)

Then we can add on car hire and hotels (or campervan) based on your length of time and budget.
Everybody's needs are different, but I'd recommend no less than 12 nights, preferably 14 to experience all that Tassie has to offer.

As a Travel Manager, the last 12 months certainly have been quite a rollercoaster! But through it all, I haven't lost my passion for travel ✈️ or helping people get away for a well-earned break 🌴

Ever since I started my career as a travel manager back in 2000 I've always been excited by my job that allows me to delve into the world of travel and help people on a daily basis. I feel blessed to do work that I truly love.

Although knocked around by Covid, travel opportunities are starting to reappear - especially within our beautiful country - and I'm very happy to be back contributing to and supporting our domestic tourism economy.
