Maka made a new canoe just for this occasion . 😀

A charity swim under the moonlight sounds perfect doesn’t it? The only catch is it’s 54km and you will be watched by freshwater crocodiles.

Simone Bl**er completed her swim of the upper Ord River, from the Lake Argyle Dam to Kununurra’s Ski Beach, in 16 hours 13 minutes.

“It was absolutely amazing. It was stunning… it was magical,” the Fremantle-based swimmer said.

Ms Bl**er has swum other long distances, like 25 km, and tackled the upper Ord because it appeared “it hadn’t been done before.”

She had a team of guides and spotters during the swim, which began in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“I feel so privileged to have done this,” Ms Bl**er said.

“Where else can you swim for 16 hours and there’s no one around you, no houses, nothing, just you and your crew.

“The water was so clean, soft and silky.”

The wild swim specialist is raising funds to teach free swim classes for refugees.

Go Wild recently trialled our brand new remote RESCUE rudder system on the upper Ord.
Our customers were literally up the creek without a paddle, although they started with one each!
This fully automated AI rudder guided them safely through the faster water with the ease you'd expect from a Master Mariner in command of your vessel.
This last Gen technology has proven capability and performance.
Thanks again Paul for literally jumping in and giving us a hand, we all appreciated it very much.

G'day everybody,

Thank you very much for all the support we have been given regarding the little panic attack over a croc trap on the Ord.

Check out the response from the people that sent the video viral in the first place!

I didn't call them, this is a response resulting from all the love we got in comments and messages.

I appreciate it very much.

For the doubters (I'm sure there are a couple still out there) check this out:-

Simone is planning to be the first person EVER to SWIM the entire upper Ord River!

She is going to start at the top dam at the witching hour on a Saturday night, and will get to Swim Beach on Lake Kununurra between 4 and 5pm on Sunday 15th September.

I'm going to paddle beside her!

Hope to see you on the beach!

Adam Mackay, who runs Go Wild Adventure Tours in Kununurra, in the Kimberly region, in WA, slammed the woman for filming a video of a crocodile trap on the banks of the Ord River in WA.

What a way to begin my first Facebook post ever!
Check out this rant from someone that doesn't have a clue.
That trap actually caught a 1.8m saltie a couple of weeks BEFORE this video was made, that's how we know that the area is safe.
That's what the traps are for.
The DBCA Ranger program has 6 traps set along Lake Kununurra, not on Lake Argyle, and that's the smallest one. They check them every Monday, and the program is very effective. This is the only river in Australia that is protected from salties, which is why everyone in the know can happily swim and play on the upper Ord.
If people are that hard up for a story, how about talking about the idiot that let the saltie out of the trap in February!
That's the sort of stupidity that will affect us.

The croc was spotted on a Triple J tour on the 13th June, the Rangers put the trap in the next day, the croc was caught the day after that, and I paddled with 25 yummy juicy kids and 6 teachers down the river the next day.
I'm glad old mate didn't see that!?!

Lake Level update time.
We have had some decent rain up in the catchment towards Halls Creek in the last week, which is now coming down into the Lake.
In The last 2 days the Lake has risen around 700mm and this morning sits at 5.32m over the spillway wall.
This gives us a volume of 16740 Gigalitres and 785 cubic metres a second discharge down the spillway!
Thats not bad for a year that was originally predicted to be below average rainfall!
