By April 2025, all visitors who do not need a visa will need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to travel to the UK.

Australian Passport Holders can apply for an ETA from 27 November 24 which will be necessary for travel from 8 January 2025.

Banning of Pagers and Walkie-Talkies from Dubai

With immediate effect, passengers travelling on flights departing from or transiting through Dubai International Airport (DXB) will not be allowed to carry pagers or walkie-talkies in their checked and cabin baggage. This is to comply with new DXB requirements.

Any of such items found in passengers’ checked or cabin baggage will be confiscated by the authorities.

Does your passport need renewing?

Australian Passports are going up by 15% on the 1st July 2024, so if your passport is up for renewal or you need a new one, now is the time to do it!

Also, there will be a new fast-track system for passport applications. From July, applications can be processed within five business days for a $100 fee. This is an appealing option for travellers wanting greater certainty over when they will receive their passport but who don’t need a two-day turnaround, which currently costs $252.

A great day yesterday reexploring the tropical north with Down Under Tours.

After a staggering amount of rain in December from Cyclone Jasper (the wettest tropical cyclone in Australia’s history) including 2.7m falls in Cape Tribulation in just 7 days, many land slides greatly impacted the roads which for the most part have now reopened with some one way sections still in place as they continue to repair.

Visiting the oldest rainforest on the planet; the stunning Daintree, Mossman Gorge, cruising the Daintree River with an intimate croc encounter, Thornton’s Beach, a delicious lunch
at Heritage Lodge and very tasty tropical treats at the Daintree Ice Cream Company.
