Today is The Day of the African Child,
observed annually as a reminder of the ongoing battle for educational equality across Africa.
The day is dedicated to amplifying the voices of African children and highlighting the importance of access to quality education for their future success.

Girls in particular face numerous barriers to accessing education, which is why we choose to support girl education through our partnership with Mission In Action Childrens Home in Kenya.

Earlier this month, Saint Ignatius College hosted a trivia night fundraiser on our behalf.
Initially the goal was to raise $1500 to cover the school fees and costs for 1 girl for 1 year.

Raising $14,650 has well exceeded any expectation and will mean that school fees will be covered for all 13 current high school girls at Mission In Action, Kenya.
Further to this, the school with sponsor 3 girls who are currently in form 1 right throughout their high school years to graduation.
I can’t even explain just how amazing this is and will have such a greater overall impact on the lives of all the children at Mission In Action.
It has already had a flow on effect and made the decision to accept 2 newborn babies an easier one just this week.

Thank you to Saint Ignatius College, the Mackillop house leaders for driving this fundraiser and for all your hard work, you are truly inspiring and setting up a legacy that will continue long after you have graduated high school yourselves and that’s something to be very proud of!

Were you lucky enough to see the Aurora Australis last night?

Last night’s severe geomagnetic storm caused the “aurora australis” or southern lights to put on a show over Australia.
The sun emitted plasma and solar flares in four ”coronal mass ejections”, shooting magnetic particles towards Earth.
As a result, bright auroras lit up the sky in the northern and southern hemisphere.

Seeing the northern lights has been on my bucket list for a long time, and the best places to see them are during winter months in the North Pole region such as Canada, Alaska, Norway, Sweden, Finland or Iceland and its best to be as far away from city lights as possible to maximise visibility.

But last nights stunning natural light show could be seen in the skies all across Melbourne and Victoria and other parts of Australia and while it was hard to see with the natural eye, the pictures that were captured through people’s phone camera lenses were phenomenal.

Walk across Victoria Falls Bridge from Zimbabwe to Zambia, clear customs and immigration and you are set to view the falls from the Zambian side.
A hike down to the bottom of the gorge to The Boiling Pot is a scenic wonder that won’t disappoint, but be warned, the hike back up will certainly get your heart rate up!

Chobe NP Botswana ❤️🐘❤️🐘❤️🐘

Chobe National Park is well known for its large herds of elephant that frequent the Chobe River daily.
In the dry season, an estimate of up to 85,000 elephants are dispersed within the Chobe National Park, where the majority of them can be found along the river.
Apart from the herds of elephants, Chobe also has lots more to offer. The Park has lion, leopard, buffalo and a whole host of antelope such as sable, puku, kudu, eland, roan and many others which you can get to see. The river teems with rafts of hippos and some of the biggest crocodiles in Africa.
This tour departs daily to the Chobe National Park in Botswana.
Clients will be transferred to the Kazungula border where their Botswana guide will meet them. They will proceed straight to the morning cruise where they will spend the morning game viewing along the Chobe River. The cruise will end at around 12h30 and clients will go to a hotel on the riverbank for lunch. After lunch, guests will board safari vehicles for an afternoon game drive in the Chobe National Park. Following this, they will be taken back to the Kazungula Border where they will be met by their Zimbabwean guide for their return transfer to Victoria Falls.

A very worthwhile day trip if you don’t have time to do an extensive tour of Chobe …
Was a nice “sampler” and has left me wanting more so I will be back!

Victoria Falls … has been on my bucket list for a long time and am thrilled to finally get the ✅

What can I say but WOW!!! 😮

Affectionately known as Mosi-oa Tunya by locals, meaning “the smoke that thunders.”
Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world and one of the most famous and iconic destinations in all of Africa, making it the most visited tourist destination on the continent. Your trip to Zimbabwe or Zambia, whichever side you decide to visit, is simply incomplete without a visit to Vic Falls.

It’s hard to find just one word to describe it - breathtaking, amazing, stunning, majestic, mystical, awe inspiring …
I could go on and on …

Nakuru National Park is a must to tick off your bucket list when visiting Kenya ….
Such a variety of wildlife in abundance and famous for its flamingos on the lake 🦩 🦩🦩
My 3rd time visiting this park and I am yet to see the tree climbing lions, this is still on my bucket list so there’s always next time!
