Sunday morning at Lake Purrumbete Kenny had Lachlan onboard for a solo session..

Starting the morning off with frosty/very chilli conditions made things a little tough going to start with as the temps were in the single digits with some added breeze made for some numb fingers and ears I’m told 🥶😂

Reddies were what Lachlan came for so the session was all about chasing them..
The boys found plenty of smaller sized throw back to keep them motivated enough to
Persist through the chilli conditions and as the sun got higher in the sky and the morning got on and warmed so did the Redfin coming on the chew for them and eventually boating 40 or more reddies to 32cm and keeping a bag of 20 off for Lachlan to take home a feed for his efforts..

Nice work fellas in trying conditions..
Thanks for coming down for a crack also mate, hope you enjoyed the feed and we look forward to having you back again in the future for another crack and hopefully a bit warmer for

Couple of charter sessions from over the long weekend..
Fishing was tough for most on the water from all reports, including for our charter sessions.
Kenny and clients done ok on a couple of charters with Redfin upto 32cm
A lot of small throw back stuff was caught on each session, our clients also learnt plenty of new tips and tricks to take away and use for their own future fishing adventures…
Smaller bags of 15-25 fish were caught all weekend with nothing huge in the way of bag size or fish size was caught..
Many thanks to all our clients from over the weekend for coming along for a session, we look forward to having you all back again in the future for another go 🎣

🎣 Product Testing = Hot Redfin Bite🔥

Kenny Rogers and partner in crime Mary hit Lake Purrumbete yesterday to test out some new prototype soft plastics from Carman's Soft Plastics on the resident Redfin the lake has to offer year round…
Also adding a nice smear of Muddy Gudgeon DIZZY SCENT to the plastics for some extra attraction.

Now what was meant to be a quick hour or so product testing different colours and sizes soon turned into a 🔥HOT🔥 reddie bite for almost 2hrs and pretty fair to say the new colours/designs worked big time haha…

Second cast of the day and Kenny had a quality reddie onboard and from there on they didn’t let up for a solid 2hr window for them boating fish after fish on a new colour plastic in the Carman soft plastics range that will now soon be in production and available in the months ahead..

All up Kenny & Mary boated just over 60 Redfin with the biggest measuring 43cm and they decided to keep a bag of 30 odd to
Take home for a few dinners 👌👌

Nice work guys, some very nice reddies there for your efforts in a frantic couple of hours fishing and awesome to see some of the
New colours from Carman Soft plastics working straight away on quality fish 🎣👌

🐟🐟 Chinook Salmon 🐟🐟

Fresh batch of Chinook Salmon for Lake Purrumbete today, that’s now 20k worth so far and more to come in the months ahead along with browns, rainbows & Tigers
As well as Lake Bullen Merri to receive all of the above also at some point.

Our Snobs Crew returned to Lake Purrumbete today, stocking 5,000 Chinook salmon yearlings.

That’s on top of last week’s 15,000 Chinooks, all averaging 50g each.

A massive thanks to Russell from Lake Purrumbete Angling Club Inc (📷) for coming out to say g’day and help with the release.

We’ll be back later this year stocking both Crater Lakes with even more Chinooks, plus browns, rainbows and tiger trout!

Lake Bullen Merri will also receive Australian bass in the springtime when warmer waters suit the stocking of natives.

Yep, the pair of lakes are something special, offering more than just the only spots in Aus where you can catch Chinooks.

🎣 Solo Walk & Stalk 🎣

I managed to get out for a quick Landbased trout fix recently as it had been a while..

A healthy 50cm hen brown trout did the job just nicely for me.
Can’t be a nice arvo sesh before dark with a couple of hours walk and stalk looking for rising fish with my trusty Spotters Sunglasses & lure casting along the edges.
Lure of choice was the Daiwa double clutch 75 in brook trout pattern.

Will get back out again for another go soon 🎣😎👌

Yesty arvo Kenny had a few hours to spare so he thought it was time he took his best mate
Sam 🐶 out for a fish as it had been a while since his last putting and he doesn’t mind a reddie or two just like his owner 😉

They boys put in a few hours sounding fish up and plucking a few from each school before they would move on and they had to chase them but they done well boating around 50 in a few hours upto 34cm and kept a nice bag of 35 to take home for a feed or two 🍽️👌

🎣 Reddies Galore 🎣

Well after a week or so off from charters Kenny was feeling fresh and rejuvenated again and keen to hit the water..
Saturday arvo he had Jade and James onboard to celebrate James recent birthday (happy birthday mate 👍🎣) for a Redfin mission at Lake Purrumbete..

They were keen to chase reddies for the session and were not disappointed.
They did have to deal with very cold conditions on the water but pushed through the numb hands and ears for the most part and managed to boat over 70 reddies for the session keeping a great bag of 55 reddies to 34cm for their efforts and going home with a cracking bag of reddie fillets to enjoy for a few dinners with the family.
Well done guys and thanks again for coming along for a session, we look forward to having you both back again in the future for another go.. 🎣

🛥️🎣 Tigers on the Prowl 🛥️🎣

Mid last week Ken had John onboard for a morning session at Lake Bullen Merri.

The boys hit the water just on day break and set out to start the session off flat lining some lures then as the sun got up put the down riggers down and chase the fish down deeper…

Always good when a plan comes together 👌
All up they picked up 5 chunky tigers upto 52cm on a variety of lures both flat lining and deep trolling, all fish were in great condition and had been gorging themselves on small minnow… spewing them up as they slid into the landing net..

Luckily they also liked the offerings the boys had out there dragging past their faces to 👌🎣

John was not very photogenic 😂 and hence the photos of Kenny with the fish at the end of the charter…

A few Photos from a couple of sessions over last weekend.

The Redfin bite at Purrumbete has slowed down significantly over the past week or so now due to water temps dropping quite fast but they will come back on the bite again in the coming week or two as they acclimatise to the cooler temps and get them selves sorted for a big feed up I’d say..

🎣🍽️ Dinner Sorted 🎣🍽️

Last Friday morning at Lake Purrumbete
Kenny had Liam & Matt onboard for the session.

Dark overcast conditions and it was pretty fresh out on the water for the morning.
The boys were keen to chase a feed of reddies to start with, things started out a little
Slow to start with but they eventually started to bite.
Finding a lot of small stuff on most stops but they did managed to keep a nice bag of reddies upto 33cm amongst the smaller stuff.
They also tried their luck on chasing a salmon and managed to bag one healthy fish at 45cm for their efforts.

Was a great time had by all and boys left very happy with their efforts

🛥️🎣 Double Sesh - Double the Fun 🛥️🎣

Last week Tim jumped onboard with Kenny for a double session as he usually does when coming for a fish with us..
Doubling his chances by fishing over both the arvo and morning bite times this trip he also wanted to mix it up and decided to do one session at Lake Purrumbete and the other at Lake Bullen Merri.

Friday arvo seen Kenny and Tim at lake Purrumbete chasing some reddies and salmon for the arvo with some not bad results..
The boys boated around 25 reddies to 30cm keeping a dozen or so for a feed they then chased some salmon on pillies and managed to land 2 chunky fish to 45cm

Saturday morning the boys headed over to Lake Bullen Merri for a lure trolling/down rigging session.
It was a little quiet but the boys did manage to land a chunky 48cm tiger trout on the old faithful Bullet Lures Redfin pattern, also dropping another fish not long after the boys tried their luck bait fishing and again dropped one other fish.. That’s fishing 🎣

Last Thursday at lake Purrumbete Kenny had Dan & mate onboard for the arvo session..
Things started off a little
Slow but picked up for them not to long after, chasing reddies to start with and boating around 20 fish to 36cm and keeping a dozen or so for a feed, they then decided to chase a salmon and managed to boat one chunky salmon to 41cm and lost a couple others in the process…

Was a bit of a tough bite but the boys persisted and managed to take home a nice feed for their efforts still.

Last Wednesday Tristan & Ben jumped onboard with Kenny for a session.

The boys started off chasing reddies but had a bit of a hard time getting the buggers to bite..
Seeing plenty of schools of fish on the sounder but they would just keep moving and not showing any interest in what the boys had to offer…
So they turned their efforts to chasing a trout or salmon and came up trumps with the boys landing 4 chunky salmon to 45cm

Plenty of banter and laughs were
Had for the session I’m told 😂
Nice work fellas persistance paid off for you in the end coming away with some nice fish for the day…

🎣Tough day for all, Persistance is Key🎣

We share the good and the tough days…

Just thought I’d share some info from a tough days fishing for a change as they can’t all be cracking big bags of fish and trophies every day 🎣

Late last week, we had a couple
Of tough sessions on the water with the fish just not playing the game but persistence, moving and trying different things still got results in the end but some days they just don’t feed, bite or play the game like they do most other days…
And all you can do is keep trying, moving, and persisting and eventually you will find a few
That are hungry and willing to feed…

That’s about all you can do and why it’s called fishing…
Unfortunately for some, not every day will produce a massive bag of reddies or bag limit trout/salmon catches or trophy fish for that matter… That’s just facts

But I always say it in past posts on here and to the many people Over the years that come
Up In person at the ramp And ask what we did or how we caught lots of fish or big fish on tougher days and I always say this first, No matter what We Persist and keep on Persisting….
We move and keep trying different things be it lures, bait, trolling, casting, dropping deep, fishing shallow any or all Of the above…

And in the end usually get some sort of results atleast, even on the odd tougher days out there
If you persist and keep changing things up eventually something works..
It may not get a big haul of fish or a trophy but it will get you results in the end.

On these two seperate charters we were the only boat that came into the cleaning tables with fish from what we seen or heard from most others..
Everyone either didn’t catch at all or if they did was a few small throw backs..
So the boys done well going by all other reports on this day..

Lance & Mate who managed to land around 15 small reddies to about 30cm and 2 salmon to 45cm for the session, tough going but the boys still got a feed and had a ripper time doing so for the arvo.

The next tough session was with Steve for the morning and again it was a tough bite with the reddies landing around 15 small ones to 30cm
Or so, So they switched their focus to chasing a trout/salmon for the rest of the session and came up trumps with 2 chunky Chinook salmon to 45cm
Nice work on tough bite Steve, But a few is better then none I guess 👍

Last weekend at Lake Purrumbete Tim jumped onboard with Kenny for the satdy morning session…
Overcast conditions and a bit of breeze about but the boys set out to chase a few salmon and Redfin for the session..

The salmon played hard to get for the first couple of hours with plenty of location changes and a variety of baits offered but the boys couldn’t get them to play the game so they turned their focus to chasing a feed of reddies for the rest of the session and managed to find plenty of Redfin to sort through.
The boys landed around 40 fish to 36cm and Tim kept a nice bag of 25 reddies to take home for a feed…
Nice work fellas and always pays to have a back up plan as you did and it payed off..
