The Last week or so been doing some real heart work with God.
Life has a habit of creeping up, pilling up and pulling the rug out all at once, in this season I have felt it all, but I also feel the pull of my heavenly dad who in every moment invites me to come and be revived through His transforming love.
I often get it wrong, really wrong, the mistakes seem unending, but in this season I am choosing to sit with God, in His unchanging word and allow Him to transform me from the heart out.
I want to be the best person I can be, no matter what is going on around me I want to choose to be an image bearer of Jesus, to bring hope and wisdom to those who need it.
This desire has nothing to do with me or my abilities, but because Holy Spirit is guiding me and equipping me.

Heart work is tough and in this season it is all consuming, but my God is faithful and He always wants the best for His kids.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.

What are your travel dreams for 2024?

Seeing the Northern lights has been a one day dream and one I never thought I would see, especially without looking. I snapped this pic just after take off from Helsinki. It is still a dream that one day we get further into the attic circle, but for now it is a dream, with the glimmer of unexpected hope.

This year hope to get back to Europe, later in the year, for now I have many stories to share from our month exploring Europe in winter.

I would love to hear your plans😀

That stop on our Epic European Christmas tour was Helsinki.
To be honest the reason we stopped by was for ease of flights.
We had just over 24 hours and this could have stretched for another day.
This morning Phil and I ran to “see” some of the highlights.
Yesterday we went to cafe Regatta…. Worth the hype, the hot chocolate and cinnamon buns were amazing.
We also visited a Lutheran church built into a rock, it is a stunning building.

We spent the few days around Christmas Day in the beautiful medieval town of Tallinn in Estonia.
What a beautiful city. When we first decided to seriously look at making this trip happen, Phil researched and decided Tallinn was best potential for a white Christmas. Tallinn did not disappoint😀.
Tallinn has a beautiful old town, and our Christmas was full of medieval flavours.
Christmas Eve we did a walking tour with Tales of Reveal (the medieval name for Tallinn), these guys gave our together a wonderful walking tour and the passion for this time period and its stories is very evident.
Christmas Eve dinner was at the very touristy Old Hansa Restaurant. Our medieval Christmas fair was lovely, we all enjoyed the whole experience.
We may not have had success in finding a church to celebrate the Birth of Jesus, but He was present in all we did.
After exchanging gifts we tackled the longest part of the old town wall and spent the afternoon exploring as much of both the upper town and lower town.
The markets were lovely and we even caught a few street performances. The only gripe I had was Tallinn had the ugliest cups we had to pay for…thankfully we could get our money back.
Tallinn was an amazing place for our first child free Christmas in 28 years.

25/12/2023

From Phil and I we want to wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Praying you have had a blessed season and felt the Love of Jesus in the midst of your Christmas celebrations.
Thank you for all the support and encouragement through 2023.

Spent a day in Brno, the Czech Republic’s 2nd largest city.
Overall the city has a more urban feel and seems more Czech, there is not a lot of strong English (which was a good surprise). We really can take for granted how much of the world has adapted to English, so it is nice to visit a place still strong in it roots.
The markets were small and chilled, a welcomed reprieve after the busy of Prague.
It was st Nicholas’s day so a few groups wandering around dressed as St Nicholas, an angel and a devil.
We climbed to St Peter and Paul Cathedral at the top of the hill and wow the building was impressive.
We went to a brewery for dinner and had an awesome meal.

Our last day in Prague was a nice slow pace, most of the morning was spent at the hotel so I could edit.
We had a few things we wanted to do like slowly meander across the Charles Bridge, I visited a small food Christmas market at the bottom of the stairs in the lesser town side of the bridge.
We headed back to Wenceslas square to go to a restaurant Phil wanted to try, but we ended up doing a bunker tour at Hotel Jalta. The tour was good, but long and the restaurant closed just as we finished up.
We ended our day with an amazing tapas meal at a restaurant we walked past every day.
Prague was beautiful and we will be forever grateful for the memories we made while trying not to slip over 😀

Sunday was the day we retraced a few steps. Thankfully the council was onto gritting the path so not as dangerous as Saturday, but caution was still a good idea.
The morning was clear and we got some great shots of the Charles Bridge and Prague castle.
Our guide during the Jewish quarter tour had suggested we visit the pink synagogue as it has some interesting displays, one a room of drawings from children in Trezien a concentration camp our side of Prague.
We got to the town hall square early and crowds were low and we could walk around the markets and could check out the stalls.
I went up the Townhall tower and the views were awesome including looking down over the markets in the square below.
Next we headed back to Prague castle to try and visit the brewery above the castle at Strahov Monastery Brewery, but it was booked out. We also saw the view our guide had showed us that was a white out the day before.
Later in the afternoon we headed to Peace square markets and these were a lovely local market with loads of crafts.
Our last stop was at a park with a few sweet light installation.

Saturday was very snowy, the city was laden with large quaintness of snow. As the day wore on it became an issue, but it was fine for most of the day.
We started at Wenceslas square and checked out the markets there. It was opening day for the big markets and expected it to be very busy, thankfully going early proved a great plan.
Standing proudly above the square is the national Musuem and a great copula viewing area. We spent a bit of time enjoying the museum.
Lunch was an average feed in the markets before heading back to the hotel to get some work done.
Returning to streets later that day we gingerly made our way to the old town square to find some dinner near by. The snow had become ice and people were falling like flys. We ended up at a place called Beer Restaurant.
The stress of joining thousands of others for the evening was high, but definitely a holiday memory.

Catching the train from Vienna to Prague was a brilliant way to travel. The snow covered scenery whispered you guys are in for a treat.
We arrived in Prague to spatting of snow in the shadows and thought oh well we missed the snow.
After a misplaced pin on the bolt app at the station we finally found our driver who took us to the hotel.
As the norm for us we are a short stroll from the old centre centre.
Today we did an excellent free walking tour around the old town and Jewish Quarter. We now have a few places we want to go and visit.
We ended our day pay more than we should have for a goulash soup in the old town square. We knew going in it would be expensive, but did it anyway.

Day 3 in Vienna. It snowed😀 lightly during the morning.
It seems visiting elegant cafes is a thing, today we enjoyed Cafe Sperl.
We visited Prater and the Ferris wheel. We got to the wheel before the market opens, but by the time we had a ride the small mostly food market was opened.
We headed to the university Christmas market, a market aimed at locals not tourist and it was amazing.
The last market we visited for our time in Vienna was the Belvedere palace markets. This was a greatly anticipated visited and I loved the setting.
We lived our time in Vienna and visiting the markets this early in the session and mid week was lovely.

Day 2 in Vienna was lovely. We walked loads, getting lost probably helped😀.
We visited a brilliant cafe called Vollpension, it is multi generational cafe that hires grandmas as a way for them to supplement their pension.
We also waited visited Cafe central, we throughly enjoyed it.
We visited three more Markets and at amHof we actually bumped into our Sydney to Dubai seat buddy, she is lovely and a solo traveller doing tours.
We are loving our second visit to Vienna.

Day one in Vienna, we took it slow, seeing 3 markets Stephens Platz, Maria Theresa Platz and the main Rathaus Christkindke Market. We enjoyed 2 different glühweins goulash and the best pork belly sandwich.
The weather is about the same as at home in winter so quite doable.
We are living the start to our Christmas trip.
If you have visited Vienna at Christmas what was your favourite market?
