The sun played with the clouds, but we had a wonderful experience in the south of Périgord Noir at . Gilles, the co-owner, 😀introduced us to his 12-year-old vineyard, which primarily grows Colombard grapes for their white wines and the native Arbouriou grape for their unique local wines. Our visit was followed by a delightful lunch at in Villeréal, both of which are favorite spots on our annual Dordogne Valley tours.😋👍

What a start! Beginning our journey at the Brana House Distillery, renowned for its delicate eaux de vie. Then, visit the Goegoechea Pottery and the Don Quichate traditional espadrille factory, the last place still producing traditional and trendy local shoes.
Spoiled with a fantastic lunch at Art'Zain restaurant, recommended by the Michelin guide not only for its exceptional value but also for its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients from within a 20km radius of Issary village.👨🏼‍🍳👍
The highlight of the day awaits at the Etxonda wine estate. In 2020, Olivier Pouchoulou settled on the Irouleguy vineyard in the heart of the Basque mountains. The estate practices organic agriculture and is located just 1km from the fortified town of Saint Jean Pied de Port, a key stopover village on the Way of Saint James pilgrimage route. Explore his vineyards nestled on the mountainside and savor his authentic wines.😋🍷

In less than a month, I will embark on a new year of French gourmet tours and local experiences. It's time to prepare vibrant itineraries showcasing the best that each region has to offer, and to arrange meetings with cheese and wine producers... While this may not be the most glamorous aspect of the job, it's crucial to ensure that everything runs smoothly and that guests enjoy a balanced experience.

The first three regions we'll be visiting are:

The French Riviera: We'll explore the vibrant markets, such as the Forville Cannes market, where we'll discover amazing spring vegetables bursting with flavor.
The Basque Country: Here, we'll indulge in the freshest Atlantic sea fishes and seafood, immersing ourselves in the rich maritime culture of the region.
Dordogne: In late May, we'll venture to Dordogne, where the asparagus and nuts will be at their peak. We'll savor these seasonal delights and explore the picturesque countryside.

Have you ever heard of and tasted canelés? They're a specialty of the Bordeaux region in southwestern France.
Transport yourself to the charming streets of France with every bite of our exquisite French canelés. Traditionally baked in small cylindrical fluted molds brushed with beeswax, these petite pastries boast a rich, custardy interior encased in a caramelized crust, creating a symphony of flavors and textures that will tantalize your taste buds.
👩‍🍳 Handcrafted with love and precision by our skilled pastry chefs, each canelé is a work of art, meticulously prepared using traditional recipes and techniques passed down through generations. Flavored with rum and vanilla, they feature a soft and tender custard center and a dark, thick caramelized crust. They take the shape of small, striated cylinders up to five centimeters in height, with a depression at the top.

After a day of cooking together, lapin moutarde, stuffed quail wrapped in bacon and vine leaf, spaetzle and Chou à la creme, we had a dinner at 1100m surround by Vosgienne cows.🐄 PUT THE SOUND ON!😉

The art of the Bouillabaisse.

Impressive visit of the chateau de Villandry. Situated close to the city of Tours this renaissance castle is composed of six square gardens and filled with different plants or vegetables to create beautiful and symmetrical gardens.

Did you say social distancing?🤣 I took this video with our Basque Country group from our car on the way to the lunch break in the Aldudes valley. They was no other option to wait until us and the yellow French post van could continue our way. Authentic and unique experience such the incredible ham rubbed with piment d’Espelette and cured between 10 to 14 months in a dry and cold shed. Soooo tasty!😋

Turn the sounds on and listen the melody of my cassoullet.😁👨🏼‍🍳 Food has history. Food is culture. It should be taken seriously and respectfully. But at the same time, it's meant to be delicious and give pleasure. Cassoulet is a French South West country stew with white beans, duck, sausage, lamb and pork belly. 🦆🐷🐑It’s a comfort food recipe you’ll love!🍴
