I'm very happy with the results at Australian Light Aircraft Championships held in Cessnock NSW last week with myself taking off overall champion.
Congratulations to Mark Kemp, Michael Stenson, Mick Harcourt, Haydn Vernon, Jim Di Menna and Gary Evans. Great results guys particularly Mark for him taking off first place in aerobatics.
Thanks Jim for getting us safely back to Perth in your 2 seater RV7 aircraft, dealing with thunder storms, lightning, turbulence and rain. Sometimes it was one of those moments when you say to yourself "what am I doing here"
Overall a great experience flying in a small aircraft to and from NSW. Thanks to our sponsors TRAVELTREE and Australian Pinnacle Tours.

I and a team of seven members from the Royal Aero Club are representing WA at the Australian Light Aircraft Championships being held in NSW in May. Events include aerobatics, precision flying, simulated forced landing, formation flying and streamer cutting. We are having a Quiz Night on Saturday 20th April at Royal Aero Club Jandakot Airport to raise funds for the team to go and we would love your support by attending or donating a prize. I am very happy with my result yesterday in the precision landing flying competition held at the Royal Aero Club at Jandakot Airport.
In this event the aim is to fly a circuit pattern accurately, carrying out…. pre take off, after take off, downwind, and pre landing checks, nominating and maintaining air speeds, altitude, positioning and placing the main wheels down on a pre nominated runway position. It was challenging yesterday as there was a 16 knot crosswind factor to deal with.

If anyone is interested in having a trial instructional flight where you get to take control in flight, I can put you in touch with one of our flight instructors at the Royal Aero Club.
Guaranteed natural high. What a feeling👏👏👏

I'm very happy with my first place result in todays flying competition which was a practice forced landing. In this competition you simulate loss of engine power at 2500 feet, need to go through all the trouble checks, give a simulated radio call, do shut down checks while descending and manoeuvring the aircraft down to land on a particular grid on the runway. The purpose of in this competition is prepare the pilot to perform a safe landing in the unlikely event of the real thing.
