Excellent birding conditions out in the Channel Country this dry season. Having just returned from enjoying a great variety of species from Opalton Grasswrens to a large number of Letter-winged Kites. (in excess of 100 sighted in a morning).

Our January tours up into Kutini Payamu (Iron Range) went really well again this season despite some 'as expected' stormy weather. Plenty of good views of the Papuan Pitta and lots of other exciting wildlife that the wet seems to bring.

Cyclone Jasper's lingering rain shadow certainly caused a lot of heartache up here in the north. Thoughts are with all the families struggling in the afttermath, we are thankful ourselves to be spared any inundation. On a lighter note a few birds seemed to have been chased out of the sodden grass verges. We had a pair of Brown Quails run through the backyard right in Central Cairns and the celebrity Red-chested Button-quail has been welcomed down the Northern Esplanade.

Very dry last year in the Territory. Grey-fronted Honeyeaters quenching thirst at a roadside stop off.

Enjoyed watching a feeding pair if Eastren Yellow Wagtails this morning-Cairns.

Our late May 2022'Gulf' tour had our group enjoying many great days of observing some of our more iconic Grass Finches. The short clip here we watched large groups of Pictorellas enjoying the pickings beside a remote waterhole. Many juveniles in attendance- excellent sign.

Our incredible and everchanging landscapes here in Australia, always brings surprises to the intrepid birding traveller. Recently returned from a trip up in the Western Gulf of Carpentaria region (N.T.) The first shot is taken in the morning of a not so friendly local in open tropical savanna country and after lunch on the same day, a short (shaky) video of a ''wirly wind' hammering around the car. This one was about 2pm, 40 degrees on the open Barkly Tablelands plains, a tad different scenery.

Always fantastic to see wild Gouldians in Qld. Our latest 'Dry Season' survey work turned up some nice sightings.
