Are you getting older? What you need to know about changing from Carer Payment or Disability Pension to the Age Pension

Important Info
📬 When you turn 67 years old, you get a task from Centrelink.
📄 This task is about moving to Age Pension.
🤔 You can choose to stay on your Disability Pension (DSP) or Carer Payment.
✔️ OR, you can choose to transfer to Age Pension.

Similarities
💰 Age Pension, DSP, and Carer Payment pay the same.
👷 All 3 payments have the Work Bonus.
📊 You must tell them your superannuation balance for all 3 payments.
👨‍👧 You can keep your Carer Allowance with all 3 payments.
📈 All 3 payments are taxed after you turn 67.

Differences
✈️ Age Pension has better overseas travel rules.
🩺 Age Pension does not need disability or caring requirements.
🎓 Age Pension lets you work, study, or volunteer as much as you want.
💵 If you move from Carer Payment to Age Pension, you lose the $600 Carer Supplement in July.
📚 You can not get the Pensioner Education Supplement or Education Entry Payment on Age Pension.
🏡 If you are single, rent, and share your home, Rent Assistance is less with Age Pension.
🦽 Mobility Allowance higher rate is not on Age Pension.

What You Need to Do
📞 You must tell Centrelink if you want to stay on your payment or move to Age Pension.

'...Nussbaum is determined to make philosophy relevant to the 21st century. She transcends the field’s traditional boundaries to explore race, gender and sexuality and advocates that international development be based on a set of universal rights and values. Above all, she insists that philosophy must be useful—not esoteric.....

This week is NAIDOC Week. It is a time to talk about First Nations people and history.

This NAIDOC Week you can read our Plain English Acknowledgement of Country Guide. It talks about

* What is an acknowledgement of country
* Why is it important
* How to say an acknowledgement of country

You can find it on our website: https://cid.org.au/resource/acknowledgement-country/

Thanks to everyone who helped us make this. First Peoples Disability Network and South Australian Council on Intellectual Disability Inc helped us write the words, and Rhys Paddick from Acknowledge This drew the pictures.

The City of Bunbury in WA recently rolled out these new tactile bins. What do you think? 🗑️

The City of Bunbury decided to make their bins more accessible for people with low and no vision. The team reached out to VisAbility with their solution and asked us for our input. The final result, these clever tactile markers.

Each tactile shape represents a different bin. The green FOGO bin has a circle, the yellow recycling a triangle, and the red general waste a square. Now people who can't see are able to feel which bins to put the different types of waste into. 👏

If you're vision impaired and a City of Bunbury resident, you can order your tactile markers here: https://www.bunbury.wa.gov.au/news/bin-lid-tactile-shapes-available

Do you need some advice on an accessibility project of your own? We're here to help. To find out how, visit: https://www.visability.com.au/services/specialist-services/accessible-information/
