Yesterday we saw yet another horrific fire emerge, this time in the Mt Cole area and impacting several townships. My thoughts have been with them and I hope they stay safe.

It's hard to explain the feelings seeing this fierce bushfire grow. I watched and stood in awe, disbelief and despair of the incredible flammagenitus cloud rising up to approx 10km, knowing how much destruction the fire will leave in its path and the stress that people in the associated areas will be experiencing.

The local FFMV crews on patrol and ready to pounce if a fire reignites in our area also knew that they would soon be sent in to fight this new fire and seemed to be mentally preparing. I feel for them and the CFA too. It's going to be a big month ahead for them fighting and blacking out.

Not so, for Hangin' Out however as the next two weeks of school groups have had to make the responsible decisions and have cancelled their bookings.

That's a HUGE "THANKX" to the air crews who have dropped 100's of loads to contain this fire. They're still working and looks like they may have won the battle! It's been a sad and difficult week for many in our community who have lost everything. There is a GoFundMe page for them.

On this Survival Day/Australia Day I would like to share this important knowledge... Thank you for reading. 🙌
"The Gariwerd - Grampians National Park is a highly enriched cultural site and had also been listed on the Australian National Heritage List. With the opportunity to not only learn the indigenous heritage, but also awe at the beauty of nature".
"Gariwerd is home to the Djab Wurrung and Jardwadjali people, who have lived here for more than 50,000 years. They consider the place to be sacred and special, with immense cultural significance. They believe ancestral spirits to be present at the mountains, and thus wish to safeguard their Dreamtime track, their Songline.
Once upon a time, the Great Ancestor spirit of Bunjil , the creator, set at work to reform the Earth.
He had the task of creation. Of the lakes and the seas, the mountains and the plains, the flora, and the fauna.
In this came the creation of the Grampians" (as we currently call it!). "As Bunjil finished with the sandstone ranges, he presume’s the body of an eagle, the Werpil. Thereupon he flew, to glance from above at his masterpiece. He watched the mountains, and the flowing of the river, the chirping of the birds, and the whispers of the Earth.
After some time, Bunjil realised the sandstone ranges and his other creations must be named. Thus this task was appointed to the two sons of the frog, Duke. The Bram Bram Bult brothers set out to finish the Great Ancestor’s work, and thereupon Gariwerd came into being, the indigenous name of the Grampians."

As a nation we must acknowledge that the Grampians name comes from a Scottish man, Major Thomas Mitchell in 1836 on his exploration down from the Darling(Qld). Along the journey his party committed many known massacres of indigenous peoples😥. We need to think about why we still acknowledge the Grampians name, that Mitchell, a man responsible for so many murders, gave to one of Australia's most significant bio-cultural landscapes🤔. Grampians name now seems disrespectful to me
My respects to all indigenous people on this day and every day. ❤️💛🖤

New "work" shoes to try out and I like👌.
Footwear choice is super important and something I take seriously as I need something I feel safe in every day I work. Colour is no big deal, but these do stand out😄

Big thanks to for providing a pair of the new from Unparrellel.
1st climb day recently and they performed really well. The fit was spot on, so if you're thinking of purchasing a pair don't get the next size up for a looser fit.
