The frill neck lizard is just one of the many intriguing creatures you may see on a visit to Litchfield National Park.

This frill neck lizard or frilled dragon is a protected species in the Northern Territory (NT). It belongs to the dragon family and can grow up to 1m in length. Males are a lot larger than females. It camouflages well and is known for its stance when frightened. It puffs out the skin around its neck and opens its mouth to scare predators away. The frill can also help regulate the lizard's body temperature and you’ll often see the frilled neck lizard running on their two hind legs.

My slave/butler/chef/chauffeur insisted we hit the road early today.

Luckily we were in the same hood as the delicious & Ruby G's Canteen and Bakery so we could squeeze in a a troppo fruit smoothie & pick up a a loaf of freshly baked Rye.
FYI there's a gazillion special sweet treats for those who, like this Insta- poodle, fancy a good dose of no-barks-given indulgence but the Slave tells me they're a 'very sometimes food' and given she pays my dental I've only 4 tiny legs to stand on.

After many stop offs, schmoozing & buttering up clients, a quick Insta shoot at BIG4 Howard Springs Holiday Park we finally got to share a delicious lunch at Berry Springs Tavern
Mum says she's gathering data for the relaunch of .
Me, I'm just here for the ride, tummy rubs, disco pashes with strangers and to make the Slave look good.

The GREAT LAKSA taste test...

In case you didn't know,
Darwin is CRAZY about LAKSA.
Despite it being so dang hot
And certainly not what this ex Victorian would consider Laksa weather
Up here WE LOVE LAKSA.
There's even a festival!

LAKSA, LAKSA, LAKSA!
And there's one LAKSA place in particular that is especially famous.
So popular in fact, in the height of Dry Season when most tourists visit us, the line for Mary's can stretch on FOREVER.
So up until today when the line was short by comparison,
I wasn't that keen.
I mean once you get to a certain age, the idea of queuing, especially in the sun & humidity, is as appealing as going to a gig with no seating in high heels!
(Yes I'm that old 🤣)

But in the interim, since hearing about Mary & not being willing to stand in line for what looked like an eternity on bitumen & risking a heat rash flare up, I kept hearing whispers about another LAKSA place that in some opinions is BETTER!

So today was THE DAY.
I hosted my own
Mary's Vs Yati's Laksa-off...

What a shot.

This cute little saltwater crocodile is approximately only 1 week old! This photo was taken on our cruise last week by our lovely guide, Dani! She has spotted something quite rare as they are normally not hatching until during the wet season but some rain in July appears to have sent a few crocs into early nesting mode!
