Had Gray and his family down from Sydney out today. We were plagued by small flathead and Mackrel early and then managed a 45 cm sandy which had to be released. We moved out to deeper water at Northern end of Maria still small flatties but managed to pick a few King Flathead amongst them with a few real nice ones. Throw in a few wrasse , octopus, sting rays, perch. barbers perch and gurnet and there was plenty of action to keep everyone busy

Another top day on the water with Mark his daughter Emma and son in law Dave . Plenty of flatties early before heading around back of Maria but wind restricted areas to fish but managed a good number of perch including a few nudging 40 cm .and Dave proved to be mackerel king winding them in 2 at a time 😂 Only downside was the 6 skates we hooked most busting us off

Last charter for 2024 and it was a good one with Rick and his son Kai Headed down mercury passage . Got a good feed of flatties then headed out to deep water south of the bouy in the boat no sooner had the lines hit the bottom than we notice massive amount of terns diving a couple of hundred meters away . Headed over hoping it was salmon or even better a kingfish first pass and a line was absolutely screening off a 5 minute fight and had a good look at it a bluefin 😮unfortunately broke it off at the boat the 8lb leader was no match 😀 spent an hour with them losing 2 more before we got one in with the smile on Kai’s face saying it all his biggest fish and first bluefin . Wishing everyone a happy new year and stay safe

Last charter of 2024 with Rick and his son Kai we headed down Mercury Passage and got a nice feed of flatties . We then headed south of the bouy in the boat to try for a king flathead . No sooner had our lines hit the bottom that I noticed a large number of terms hovering and then start diving ,we headed over hoping for a salmon or a kingfish first pass and line was screening off no salmon after a 5 minute battle we got it up to see was a bluefin tuna unfortunately on 8 lb flatly gear we busted it off at the boat . We trolled around for an hour losing 2 more before finally Kai landing his biggest fish ever and first tuna the smile said it all . Have a great news year and stay safe

Had a half day today with Nikki her husband Mitch and dad Scott . Bit breezy early and the flathead fired got a feed and through a lot of 40+cm ones back in the first hour or so, hardly any little ones today . Nikki proved to be the gurnet king with some nice fillets coming off them. Then tried southern end of Maria island for a king flathead still only finding little ones the bigger ones being hard to find atm . Spent the last half an hour having a troll in the hope of a kingfish with no luck.

First charter of the "summer season" from Orford today with Tracey and Hilton. Absolutely perfect morning with hardly a breath of breeze and we managed a feed of flatties, a gurnet and a few Wrasse before heading to Maria Island and finding a feed of Calamari. The wind came up around lunch time making bottom fishing difficult so we then decided to have a bit of a troll hoping for Salmon or a Kingfish, Found a lone salmon So a nice mixed bag to take home.

After having to cancel last couple of weekends due to weather was nice to get back out today. Beautiful start to the day with the Hippolytes basking in the sun . Unfortunately the fishing was slow with only the 1 bluefin he was at least a bigger schoolie . From what we heard there was only 1 other blue caught so we should be grateful

Mixed weekend slow day yesterday with only 2 tuna both of which we lost. Today 20 mins after starting had birthday boy James catch his first bluefin . Pretty steady for next 2 hours with another 7 caught and released including a 4 way hookup in Munroe which included James mum Alison catching her first Bluefin and my daughter who was along for the ride catching her first one also, slowed a bit after that with another 3 before pulling pin to head in early
