It is often a conflict of interest making that decision. Do I give the client what they want simply because this is what they have seen as a popular trend on social media? Or do I offer them my professional advice to give them the most flattering pair of brows I could possibly deliver?

As Brow Artists and Beauty Technicians we walk a fine line. Ultimately the customer isn’t always right and there is nothing wrong with making that clear when necessary. You are the trained professional. This is the reason they have come to you. THERE IS MORE TO BEING A PROFESSIONAL BROW ARTIST THAN WAX AND TINT.
Brow Guy is consultative and educational.
Hypertrichosis : The opposite of Bald.

Most brow clients are looking to refine their already existing brow shape. In many cases, brow clients, are trying to discover more hair, and create a boulder brow than what nature may have been gifted them.

This particular client is dealing with hypertrichosis due to the medication that they are currently prescribed. Hypertrichosis is essentially the growth of excessive amount of terminal hairs in androgen-dependent sites. Some medications can cause this. It’s not necessarily permanent and so we have to take that into account when we’re addressing somebody’s hair growth patterns, especially on their face and particularly within their brows and with a view to performing a brow transformation.

This client has brows which naturally form in essentially a straight line across their more rounded face shape. Visits to previous brow technicians have resulted in basically just removing the excess hair with complete disregard to what can be done in regards to beautifying the brow or adjusting the shape to better suit their face. (–_–) ( 😊 )

We took the opportunity to embrace the new hair growth rather than just purely removing it. We created a subtle arch within the bottom brow line, and with a simple style change, redirected the Hair to create some lift anticipating that the new hair on top of the brow may at some stage catch up to the thickness of the actual brow itself.

We’ve only just begun a journey. This is only introductory step 1. So looking to the future, if the new hair does not catch up to the thickness and density of the existing eyebrow, then we have not lost any hair from the original brow. Therefore, once medication has ended and the new hair potentially stops growing in that area, we haven’t made any drastic changes that might cause what may look like a flaw within the natural original eyebrow.

It is impossible to determine at this stage if all of that new hair will disappear when the course of medication is done. Hopefully in time, and with strategic depilation and colourisation, we can continue to develop a beautiful and natural arch to more permanently enhance this client’s features to better suit their face shape.

I am personally excited to assist in evolving this client’s eyebrows overtime into something beautiful, which may have previously been perceived as unachievable.

🥂CELEBRATING 17 YEARS OF BROWGUY🥂 Back in 2007 an eyebrow wax was still considered as an add-on service to a salon facial or leg wax. It was considered a quick “wax’n’dash” service and usually performed with complete disregard to the overall impact eyebrows have on a person’s general appearance. When BrowGuy was born, there was a conscious decision made to adamantly stress value on the ultimate importance of how such a small facial feature can completely change a person’s face. I set a pricing schedule which has not changed in 17 years - Infact industry pricing has only recently begun to catch up and clients are now trying to encourage me to raise my prices. I consciously delineated the gender gap to make pricing as gender free as possible and to proudly open the doors to embrace our gender-diverse community allowing change and personal expression to flourish. I offer this within a discreet, comfortable and welcoming environment. Personally I am so rewarded by the post-treatment joy I witness when I can assist those on their transition to gender-affirming changes. Being one of Australia’s first designated Eyebrow Specialists, my tweezers have tended to many everyday people, celebrities, rock stars and even royalty.
