We can't imagine how this family is feeling right now...🤗

Over the next couple of months building materials for their brand new 'dream house' will begin to arrive. The family will be busy transporting the bricks, sand and bags of cement from the nearest road up to their house site🧱. That's no mean feat by the way - it's over a kilometer up a steep dirt track...and everything is moved by scooter..🛵😬..!

Come April our next enthusiastic team of e3 Global travellers will be helping the family to construct their new house. No more leaks💧. No more cold🥶. Safe, secure and warm..😊👌

Some of you would be aware that our recent Laos adventure was the first of our 'family friendly' project trips...🤗🇱🇦

We are firm believers in the value of travel for young people. We know that travel helps to broaden horizons through diverse experiences, as well as provide an opportunity to develop their global perspective, personal confidence and independence.

We were fortunate to have 3 fantastic young people join us on our last trip, along with their parents/grandparents. Levi, Hazel and Xavier gave 100% throughout - making the most of the whole experience including projects, food, and activities.

Congratulations to all of them on their participation and commitment ...👏🏅😊

Straight off the plane and into dance class with the help of the talented kids at the Luang Prabang Library..😊🕺🇱🇦

Our Laos group have just spent their last couple of days in Luang Prabang, enjoying lots of different activities and sights..🇱🇦

From delivering donations to the local hospital to enjoying a behind the scenes experience with Free the Bears, from batik workshops to random knife making lessons in the back blocks there's been a lot going on!

The trip has been diverse, immersive and fulfilling. The team has achieved so much during their time here:
*School library building project
*Delivered educational supplies to 3 village schools
* Supported the Luang Prabang Library to deliver pop up libraries, books and hygiene supplies in 3 remote schools
*Delivered mosquito nets to an entire village
*Delivered reading glasses to 2 villages
*Delivered equipment to the Free the Bears program
*Supported the Elephant Conservation Center
*Delivered donations to Laos Friends Hospital for Children
*Supported Khaiphaen by Friends Kitchen hospitality school for disadvantaged young people

A massive thanks to our fabulous team of travellers - for your support, compassion and love❤️. Each and every one of you has made a positive impact during this experience - an impact that cannot be underestimated..🙏

Laos holds a special place in our hearts💕. The warmth of the people, fabulous food, culture and scenery. We'll be back again soon for sure - keep a look out for our next Laos project trip..😊👌

After 5 days in the Laos jungle, working hard and living rough, it's time for a little R & R for our team as they head back to Nong Khiaw and then Luang Prabang....👌

Think swims in crystal clear waterfalls, sunset dinner cruises, hikes to mountain viewpoints, authentic Lao picnic lunches, massages - oh, and the odd cocktail...😋🍸🇱🇦❤️

Well, the Lao people sure know how to party👌

Last night we were treated to a traditional Lao thanksgiving ceremony - called a baci🙏 Most of the locals at Had Sa Puey village turned out for the event to offer their thanks and good wishes to the group.

There was the ceremony and blessing, sharing of food, dancing and, okay, maybe just a little rice wine 🍚🕺🥃😂..!

P.s. yes, that is the nutbush being performed by the team in one of the photos. Not sure what the locals made of it..🤔😅

Quite simply - life changing...😍

Over the last 4 days our Laos volunteer project team has delivered mosquito nets to an entire village🦟 reading glasses to over 150 people👓 and educational supplies to 3 schools📚. That's as well as helping to construct a new library/classroom space for one of those villages.

The area they have been working in is remote - 4 hours by van over bumpy roads and then 2 hours by long boat. The scenery is nothing short of stunning....🏞🤩. There's been dramatic thunderstorms🌩 heavy rain🌧 and intense humid heat also🌞.

It's been full on but so incredibly fulfilling. So much is needed and the group have helped in a small but impactful way. They have worked hard, learned much and come away with a new found understanding and respect for the Laos and Khmu people they have connected with...🇱🇦❤️🇦🇺

From serene enlightenment to deadly assassins - it was a morning of contrasts for the group today...🇱🇦

First up - monk chat😇🙏. With over 30 temples in Luang Prabang it's no surprise that Buddhism plays a huge role in the everyday lives of the locals. Becoming a monk is a voluntary path for young Lao men. For many the promise of a sound education provides additional incentive to don the saffron robes. This morning Monk Obie shared some nuggets of Buddhist wisdom with the group before leading them through a short guided meditation...🧘‍♀️🕉

Feeling appropriately zen it was then on to visit the UXO museum. Over 2 million tonnes of explosives were dropped on Laos from 1964 to 1973 making it, per capita, the most bombed country on the planet...💣. The cost to human life then was horrific but what's really disturbing is that the horror continues - Lao people are still losing limbs and lives to unexploded bombs. Sadly compensation from the USA has been sorely inadequate..😥

A refreshing swim at Kuang Si waterfalls offered a change of pace for the group... not only did it give us the opportunity to cool off but it also provided the time for us to reflect on how we, as individuals, can make positive change in the world..🌏👌

Well, what a way to begin our tour..🤩

Our fab local guide Mr Good gave us a quick history of Laos and Luang Prabang, along with a crash course in Lao language...🇱🇦. Then we were off to visit the grandest temple of them all - Wat Xieng Thong - before dinner...😍

Speaking of dinner, in usual e3 style we chose the adventurous way to get to the restaurant - local longboat..😁🛶 ..! Dinner was a traditional Lao BBQ or sindad - delicious and loads of fun😋😀

First job - to sort out what would be close to 250kg of donations destined for village schools, the Luang Prabang Library and local hospitals...👩‍🏫📚🏥

The generosity of this group and their network of friends and contacts is astounding..🤩. Massive thanks to everyone who contributed🙏

The morning alms or tak bat ceremony in Luang Prabang, Laos is a must see...🇱🇦

This stunningly beautiful UNESCO world heritage listed town is home to over 30 Buddhist temples. Monks usually wake around 4am and begin their day with a chanting session before heading out to collect alms.

The monks walk barefoot around their pre-determined route as almsgivers line the footpath offering sticky rice and, at times, other treats such as biscuits, to each monk. As they return to their temple the offerings are shared for breakfast and some kept for their only remaining meal of the day - lunch.

For the faithful, the act of giving alms is a form of cleansing the soul through spiritual redemption...🙏

Having worked in remote north Vietnam for a number of years we know that poor vision is one of the biggest issues facing ethnic minority people.
