This program offers behind-the-scenes interactions with vets, researchers, wildlife managers and conservationists in stunning South Africa, while getting hands-on with some of the continent's amazing wildlife.

Designed for those in veterinary training, from vet and vet nurse students to young veterinarians and veterinary nurses and techs. You do not need lots of experience to take part, this trip is suitable for Pre-Vets and for anyone interested in a career in the industry, however the further into your veterinary career you are the more you may gain from participating in both the practical activities and the field lectures.

AFRICAN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY, NAMIBIA

Join the Sanctuary volunteer program any time of year. This is a large program with lots of young volunteers from all around the world so it’s a really social environment too.

Volunteer activities are on half-day rotation:
- work tasks (eg food prep / animal feeding / enclosure cleaning)
- research tasks (eg tracking the elephants / camera trap analysis)
- relaxed tasks (eg walk with the baboon troop)
- an exciting session with the anti-poaching unit canines
- horse riding alongside the resident giraffes.

No experience necessary
Year-round program

"Namibia Veterinary Experience 10/10

The two week Harnas Vet Experience exceeded all of my expectations as a Vet Nurse. I would absolutely recommend this trip to any aspiring vet nurses/students/vets or anyone who has a keen interest in the field. Not only did I get to experience what the lovely wildlife veterinarians do in Namibia, but I also got to experience the culture of the people in the country too. If you have any doubts about doing this trip, ignore them. Do the trip. This was my first trip ever outside of my own country, and only at 19, too. But I absolutely loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat if I could. This was truly a once in a lifetime trip and I was gutted to not have stayed longer. Namibia is a breathtaking country and you will not be disappointed if you book this trip."
