Kuranda Riverboat Come and enjoy a relaxing 45 minute Wet Tropics rainforest cruise on the glorious Barron River in Ku Warren & Melissa have lived in Speewah since 2002.

Kuranda Riverboat Tours is the oldest continually operating tour business in Kuranda, having been established on the Barron River in Kuranda in 1982. It is an iconic attraction in the village and loved for its tranquil and relaxing tours during which you may see cassowaries, freshwater crocodiles, freshwater turtles, fish, birds and butterflies. Warren & Melissa Clinton bought the Kuranda Riverboat in September 2015 from its original owner, Brian Clarke.

We are still unable to operate our business 6 months after the devastating flood.

We are still waiting on a tourism assistance grant too. No income for 6 months!

The COVID pandemic was SO much easier to live through because businesses were helped by governments.

With the help of probably the biggest crane in Far North Queensland, our little riverboat finally went back in the water yesterday after nearly 6 months on land. Still some weeks before the weir will have its temporary dam in place, which will then allow us to restart our business.

Life has been very tough but there are always many people who are much worse and off than ourselves.

Although we applied in February 2024 and have been approved for the Tourism Exceptional Assistance Grant, following the devastating flood in December 2023, we are yet to receive any help!

Almost 5 months since the massive flood that washed away our infrastructure. Our new jetty, gangway and pontoon are in place and ready for when we can start cruises again. As you can see, the river is still low and free flowing until the weir is repaired.

We are very pleased to have again been recognised as a ‘Best of Queensland Experience’.

We cannot wait to be operating again following the catastrophic flood last December.

We are very grateful for the help we have received from friends to get the riverboat back on the water and our new infrastructure in situ.

Repairs are being done to the weir, by CleanCo Queensland and then we’ll be operating again!

This very large scrub python crossing the road at Cape Tribulation in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest. Scrub pythons, also known as amethystine pythons, are the longest snake species in Australia. They like to eat wallabies but are also know to take domestic pets which is one reason there are not many feral cats in the Daintree Rainforest!

Happy to say the riverboat has survived the major flooding event. We have lost the jetty, gangway and pontoon. It seems that part of the weir for the power station has washed away too.

Due to Tropical Cyclone Jasper we will be closed from Tuesday, 12 December. We hope to recommence cruises on Friday, 15 December but this will be confirmed once the weather improves and if the river doesn’t flood. We will be the first to cancel, refund or move a booking to another date, if possible.
