Maria Island National Park is a place of immense beauty, rich in history and provides access to many of Australia’s iconic wildlife. Stepping off the ferry, you are met with encounters of wallabies, wombats, kangaroos, Cape Barren geese, many of Tasmania’s endemic birds and if staying overnight, you might even see an endangered Tasmanian devil.

If you are staying in Hobart and wanting to visit Maria Island, you do not need to hire a car. Our shuttle bus service offers affordable daily return shuttle services from Hobart. You can also take our service 1 way, if you are staying overnight and wish to return on a different day.

MARIA ISLAND BUS SERVICE! We are very excited to share the news our Maria Island Shuttle bus service is now available to book on the Encounter Maria Island ferry website. We are very grateful this partnership now offers the first integrated bus / ferry service from Hobart to Maria Island.

Our bus service offers daily transport from the Hobart CBD, along with freight transport for overnight luggage, camping equipment and guest food provisions.

The bus departs the Hobart waterfront at 6:50am and arrives in Triabunna at 8:10am to meet the 8:30am Maria Island ferry. At the end of the day, the bus will then depart Triabunna at 5pm and arrive back into Hobart at 6:20pm.
