It’s wineries like Kies Family Wines that continue to showcase the Barossa in its best light. Family businesses doing what family businesses do! Outstanding!!!

A huge Congratulations to Bronson this morning having received the following awards over night at the China Wine and Spirits Awards:

🏆 - GOLD MEDAL - 2024 Shepard Vuk White Shiraz
🏆 - GOLD MEDAL - 2024 Hill Block Riesling
🏆 - GOLD MEDAL - 2021 Klauber Block Shiraz
🏆 - GOLD MEDAL - 2021 Dedication Shiraz
🏆 - DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL - 2022 Dedication Shiraz
🏆 - BRONZE MEDAL - 2021 Cheers to you Sparkling Shiraz

A wise woman once said to me "Whatever makes you weird is probably your greatest asset".

At Kies we do things a little differently. Bronson came up with the idea for the White Shiraz, because we had sold out of Riesling every summer in our little cafe, and here we are. It has sold out every vintage since its inception and now been awarded a gold medal in what was a red wine category, because it just didn't fit the mould. 🥂🙏

Since 2020 we have seen a shift in wine club purchases towards our Premium Red wines including the awarded Klauber Block, Dedication and Cheers to You Sparkling Shiraz where the focus is on freshness, vibrant colour, cleanliness in the winemaking and the prevention of oxidation. These wines represent incredible value for club members and customers and have seen us all through a long cold winter. 🍷👏💪

Yes, we do things differently here at Kies. We focus on the customer and make wines that suit your palate. We are so so grateful to all of you for your support and sticking with us as our little business grows into the future. 🙏🍷

Thank you for supporting:
• a 100% Australian and Family owned Winery
• a Certified Sustainable Winery and Vineyard
• a group of 30 of the most amazing team members - we have never been so grateful for our amazing team in their level of customer care - true professionals! 🍷

You are absolutely the back bone of our little business and honestly, when you order wine from us, we as a family do a little happy dance!

So cheers with a little glass of Polly today! Thank you again 🍷🙏

🍷 Welcome to Weekly Winery Wednesdays! 🍇 This week, we’re looking at Seppeltsfield Winery 🌟

Seppeltsfield Winery isn’t just about the wine; it’s about experiencing a rich tapestry of Barossa history. Founded in 1851 by Joseph Ernst Seppelt, this Barossa Valley gem has been producing wines for over 150 years. Joseph’s son, Benno Seppelt, and his wife, Sophia, played a crucial role in shaping the estate. They were instrumental in expanding the vineyard and building the infrastructure that would set the foundation for Seppeltsfield’s future success. Their children, of which they had 16, continued to drive the family's legacy forward, contributing to the winery's renowned status and ensuring its place in Australian wine history.

At Seppeltsfield, tradition meets innovation. Their offerings include the renowned Para Tawny, which you can taste straight from the barrel of your birth year, making every visit uniquely personal. The winery also produces a modern range of varietals, ensuring there’s something to delight every palate. Beyond the wine, Seppeltsfield offers a feast for the senses. Wander through the heritage-listed estate and explore the lush gardens and historic buildings. A standout feature of the estate is the stunning avenue of date palms. Planted during the Great Depression as part of a work-for-food program, these majestic palms now form a picturesque pathway that is perfect for a leisurely stroll.

In the 1930s, Seppeltsfield embarked on an ambitious project to plant thousands of date palms along the estate’s main road. This initiative provided much-needed employment during tough economic times and left a lasting legacy. Today, these towering palms are an iconic symbol of Seppeltsfield, adding to its unique charm and historical significance. Seppeltsfield is more than just a winery; it’s a journey through time. The blend of historical charm and contemporary elegance makes it a standout destination in the Barossa Valley. Whether you’re sipping a century-old tawny or exploring the creative studios, Seppeltsfield offers an experience that’s both enriching and unforgettable.

Enquire with us today if you want to experience Seppeltsfield yourself.

🍷 Welcome to Weekly Winery Wednesdays! 🍇 This week, we’re close to home with Langmeil Winery! 🌟

In 1842, Christian Auricht and his family fled persecution in Prussia and settled in the Barossa. They established a small trading village called Langmeil, planting their first vineyard in 1843. Today, Langmeil Winery stands as a testament to their perseverance and vision, with the Freedom Shiraz vineyard, planted in 1843, being one of the oldest known surviving Shiraz vineyards in the world.

Langmeil was one of the original cornerstones of the Taste the Barossa day tour; we visited every day and brought over 50,000 people through the door. While Langmeil isn't a part of our standard day tour now, we still regularly visit the cellar door with private tour guests.

Langmeil lets their wines do the talking. With complimentary tastings and a relaxed cellar door vibe, they have managed to preserve an authentic tasting experience. No tasting fees are required when pouring excellence—it's hard to leave without buying a case.

If you are lucky enough to have James as your guide for the day, you can bet he'll take you to Langmeil! James worked during the 2021 and 2022 vintages and will never pass up an opportunity to share the wines he helped make.

🌟 Enquire with Langmeil Winery or Taste the Barossa today to experience the excellence of Langmeil Winery. 🌟

🍷 Welcome to Weekly Winery Wednesdays! 🍇 This week, we’re diving into the story of Rosenvale Vineyards! 🌟

A family-owned winery with seven generations of Barossa history, Rosenvale Vineyards is rooted in traditional farming, viticulture, and winemaking, led by one of the Barossa's Barons, James Rosenzweig.
In 1849, the Rosenzweig family from Bomst, Prussia, decided to emigrate to Australia. After enduring several arduous months at sea aboard the ship Emmy, they arrived at Port Adelaide. They made their way to Hahndorf, found temporary accommodation, and soon purchased land. By 1858, they had relocated to the Barossa Valley, buying forty acres at Duck Ponds near Moculta.

Fast forward to today, and you’ll find the family winery nestled alongside their beautiful Sémillon vines. Fast forward to tomorrow at 2:30pm, you’ll see guests enjoying a glass of Prinzessin crafted from those very vines.

Rosenvale Vineyards utilizes diverse grape varieties, soil types, and vine training techniques to create a range of wine styles and flavors. By hand-selecting small batches of fruit and using minimal intervention, they showcase the unique qualities of their vineyard. The Barossa Valley's varied geology is carefully managed, resulting in distinctive wines. Run by three generations of the Rosenzweig family, Rosenvale emphasizes family connections, learning through experience, and passing down knowledge from one season to the next.

With standout reds like the JR, Paul Oscar, and Seventh, you won’t want to miss them. Act quickly, though—these small-batch, big-flavor wines tend to disappear fast!

Enquire with Rosenvale or Taste the Barossa today to experience the excellence of Rosenvale Vineyards.

🍷 Welcome to the Weekly Winery Wednesdays series! 🍇

We're continuing this journey with a visit to the esteemed Chateau Yaldara , a cornerstone of our Barossa Valley tours. With a relationship spanning over 14 years, Chateau Yaldara holds the distinction of being our longest-running daily partner in the Barossa. Over 130,000 of our guests have had the pleasure of walking through their beautiful cellar door and experiencing the exceptional wines they have to offer.

Chateau Yaldara was founded in 1947 by Hermann Thumm, a German immigrant who sought to bring European winemaking traditions to Australia. The name "Yaldara" is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "sparkling," which reflects the winery's commitment to producing high-quality wines.

If you want to visit Yaldara and experience the bespoke Sparkling Petite Verdot or their 40 Year Old Tawny, inquire with us today! Cheers to many more visits and memories to come! 🍷

🍷 Welcome to Weekly Winery Wednesdays! 🍇 This week, we're kicking off with a bang by featuring Ballycroft Vineyard and Cellars. Honestly, they don't need the spotlight—they shine brilliantly on their own.

Joseph, Sue, and the family have welcomed our private touring groups into their home and cellar door for over five years. We couldn't be happier with the intimate tasting experience they provide, which our guests often highlight as the best part of their day.
Their wines are outstanding, matching the exceptional experience they offer. Ballycroft began as a cheesery run by Sue Evans and her sister. The vineyard, planted in 1998 on a 15-acre property in Greenock, Barossa Valley, produced its first Shiraz in 2005. The Tasting Room opened in 2016, and the solar-powered winery was completed in 2018. Ballycroft even uses a 100% electric car, 'Zero,' to power their operations whenever possible. Owner Joseph Evans oversees the sustainable winemaking process, offering visitors a one-on-one cellar door experience with over 27 vintages of expertise.

If you want to experience their Small Berry Durif or compare their beautiful Small Berry Shiraz aged in French or American oak, enquire today!

Meet Smithy! 🚌 Our 12-seat Toyota Commuter. He doesn’t get out as much as he used to, but he still might be the most important bus in our fleet. Smithy has served as a family car and tour bus for over 14 years! From school runs to Behind-the-Scenes Barossa experiences, he’s done it all. Named after the Aussie cricketing legend Steve Smith, our bus Smithy is still at the crease, not out! 🏏

While it's unlikely your tour will be in Smithy, now you know who "Opened the batting" for Taste the Barossa.

As a business we try to step up when charities are in need. Little Heroes Foundation, Canteen, Food on the Table are all great charities and we do what we can. This one however is very close to home as our great mate Jim is suffering from this insidious disease. Along with my daughter Tamsin and Son James we are taking part in the 24 hour Peddle for Parkinson’s on the 13th and 14th of Juneat the Adelaide Oval. If you can click on the link and give anything you can it would be hugely appreciated. ❤️

I'm raising money for a cause close to my heart and would love your support.

Interesting article. Just out of interest how many wineries want young people to visit their cellar door? We all want those “hi yield” tourists to pop in and spend big $$$ however what are we doing for the long term viability of the industry?

So I’ve just heard through the grapevine that apparently there’s too much wine in the world and it’s your fault.

We are lucky to visit Rosenvale Vineyards 7 days a week. It’s one of the highlights of our Premium Day Tour. The 2017 JR Shiraz is going to be an all time classic.

The Rosenzweig J.R Shiraz 2017 has just been released in our Cellar Door space, and what a beauty.

Grafted on to our 1940's planting of Semillon in the Rosenzweig vineyard, this clone of Shiraz is a first generation clone from a 150 year old vineyard.

The first 2 vintages of JR, 2017 and 2018 were extremely small and allocated initially, exclusively to the Rosenzweig Museum Cellar. However, to celebrate the launch of the 2024 Vintage we have released a very small selection. This is a private release of the ROSENZWEIG JR Shiraz 2017 of #511 bottles in that all are individually numbered and registered to each owner.

To get your bottle please call the Cellar Door on 08 8562 3533.
