You couldn’t ask for a better way to spend our last day on the island. A very interesting start to our day today with a visit to the home of author Colleen McCullough. She lived an incredible life and her house still has some stories to tell on her behalf. We then had some time to do a bit more shopping on the island, and some of us visited some more museums. Finally, the big finish was the Pinetree Tours Fish Fry. An incredible night of singing, dancing and feasting. We also enjoyed some traditional Tahitian dancing from the Baunti Byuutis.

What better way to start the day than a bush walk to your BBQ brekkie? We enjoyed a walk among the beautiful Bridle Track with some spectacular views out over the coastline on our walk to the Captain Cook monument and our delicious breakfast. This afternoon we enjoyed a visit to the Cyclorama, a 360° 3D mural describing the story of the Bounty Mutineers. Tonight we were fed by the locals at a progressive dinner to 3 houses to enjoy tales of the locals lives and how they grew up here on the island.

We had ourselves quite a busy day on the island today. Starting this morning with our journey out on a glass bottom boat on the crystal clear water to learn about the reef. We even saw a beautiful green sea turtle hiding among the coral along with the resident fish. After lunch we headed down to Kingston where our guide Max regaled and horrified us with the lives of the convicts who were transported here. Finally, tonight we went out for a delicious dinner thanks to Bailey's Restaurant.

Another day in paradise. We started a bit earlier this morning, going over the cattle stops to visit some of the small boutique producers on the island. Our first stop was the Hilli Goat Farm to sample both the delicious goats cheese and the beauty products made from goats milk there on the farm. We also had the opportunity to browse the pottery made there. Next stop was the Christian’s home where they make ukuleles in many styles and work the Norfolk pines into timber. They are also tanning hides and making leather products.

Next we stopped by one of the piers to see a cargo ship unloading, a very lucky sight to see, as they only arrive every 6 weeks to bring much needed cargo to the island.

Finally we visited a local sea salt makers and sampled some locally made chutneys and soft drinks. After a quiet afternoon and dinner at our hotel we headed out to Wonderland by Night to listen to some wonderful bush poetry by Archie Biggs highlighted by the incredible dioramas and scenery that brought the poetry to life.

Hard to believe that’s another day gone on this beautiful island paradise. With a bit of free time this morning, some of us visited the local markets, some visited museums and other had a quiet morning in the gardens around the resort. Then we headed off the beaten path on a great tour of some often missed wonders the island has to offer. We learnt about how and where the fuel is brought ashore and about some of the native plants that made the island so enticing to the early settlers. We then made our way to the top of Mt. Pitt for a 360° view out over the island before an incredible picnic of wine and cheese overlooking the ocean while being serenaded by our driver John. Finally we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Bounty Bar & Grill.

Thanks very much to Pinetree Tours for an incredible first day on Norfolk Island. After an easy morning of exploring the resort and the township we headed out on our Island Orientation. Our guide, Max, gave a detailed explanation of the island and its history. After a lovely dinner we enjoyed a brilliant Sound and Light Show with some talented young local performers acting out life as a convict.
