Exciting things are coming this year at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Visitor Information Centre.

With new events and plans for the centre and community, this year is set to be a great one.

So let’s kick this off with the introduction of our new CEO at YMTB, Nathan Bibby. Nathan joins as after working the last 4 years with Goulburn Murray Community Leadership.

Nathan sees his immediate priorities as “Getting out and engaging and listening to the multitude of stakeholders, drawing upon the depth of knowledge and talents of the YMTB staff and working effectively with the YMTB Board.”

We hope you will all help us make him feel welcome as he settles into his new role.

For many years we have had a photograph displayed on the walls here inside the Information centre that was taken back in 1976 of a gentleman named John Easedown who was 38 years old at the time and his son Matt Easedown who was only 12 years old.

📷 They were photographed with a Murray Cod they had just caught, weighing just under a whopping 80lbs!
A few weeks ago, John who is now 84 years old, returned to the Visitor Information centre to view his old photograph and tell us the tale of his magnificent catch.

75 years of Summer on Lake Mulwala.

⏳ Things may have changed over the years in Yarrawonga Mulwala. The town has grown, and the world has modernised. But one thing that has remained the is the love we all have for spending time on the water here at Summertime.

💧 From spending the day sailing away in the 1950’s, playing on the old original waterslide and lake pool in the 1960’s or water skiing in the 1960’s & 70’s. Our love of Lake Mulwala will never change.

The Family fun day at the Mulwala Ski Club is back!

2025’s Family fun day is on again at the Mulwala Waterski Club on Saturday the 25th.

Bring the family down for a day that is sure to be enjoyed by all. Once inside the gates, all activities are free to enjoy.
🎠 Be entertained by Jumping castles, face painting, Camel rides, glitter tattoos, balloon figures, bumper boats, waterslide and a mini carousel.

🚴‍♂️ Don’t forget to stay for the shows from Airtime Freestyle Moto X, Australia Zoo Animals, Remote Control Model Boats, Ski Demos, and the Laser Light show!

Everyone knows that summer is the time to be out and enjoying the great outdoors that is Yarrawonga Mulwala.

☀️ The days are spent out on the water swimming or boating, fishing on the banks of the lake, exploring the many amazing walking and biking tracks and trials, or just relaxing on the grass with some friends.

We are now heading into our hottest part of the summer season and with that comes the increase of the UV Index with most days being in the high end of the chart.
Make sure to take care this summer and protect yourself:
🟠Seek shade wherever you can.
🟡Wear sun protective clothing such as wet suits when out on the water
🔴Wear hats and sunglasses
🔵and most importantly apply sunscreen at least every 2 hours.

🌳 There nothing quite like camping out on along the Murray River and enjoying the tranquil and peaceful sounds of nature, switching off and just enjoying life.

But this is also a time to be wary of your surroundings. Although those amazing old tress may provide shelter from the sun, it is also good to be reminded about their dangers and potential falling hazards.

⛈These old trees have been through the ringer when it comes to weather conditions, from floods, storms, dry seasons, high winds and even tornados.
So when setting up your camp this season, be sure to “Look up before you set up” and steer clear of over hanging branches to avoid tragedy thig holiday season.

Funds from this event will be used to help equip the new Theatre build at the Yarrawonga Health Hospital.

🗑 We ask that all visitors and campers, if you can’t take your rubbish home with you, please use the allocated rubbish dump sites across the region and leave our parks and public lands looking clean and safe for not only other campers but also for the local wildlife.
