Unforgettable Moments with Canadian Guests 🇦🇿🇨🇦🥰

Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting father-son guests from Canada who were eager to explore my homeland, Goychay, known as the land of pomegranates. Our journey began in the vibrant city of Baku, where we visited iconic landmarks such as Highland Park, Old City, and the Heydar Aliyev Center. The adventure continued with a trip to Gobustan National Park, Mud Volcanoes, and the ancient Fire Mountain, Fire Temple. In Goychay, we toured my uncle’s bakery, enjoyed a delicious meal at the best local restaurant, and experienced tea at my family home, where my cousin even serenaded them on the piano. Their enthusiasm for exploring Goychay made our visit even more special, and it was hard to say goodbye as we continued our journey to Sheki for more unforgettable experiences before bidding farewell at the Georgian border. 🥰😍

Happy Novruz to everyone! 🥳🥰

is the oldest holiday of Azerbaijan. A symbol of spring and the revival of nature. The holiday is marked on 20th, 21st and 22nd of March. Before the holiday people usually clean their yards and homes and plant trees.
On the eve of the holiday different delicacies (qogal, pakhlava, shakarbura, feseli) are prepared. Delicious meals are cooked in every home for Novruz evening. The menu may vary, but one obligatory dish is plov (pilaff). Eggs dyed various colors and Novruz tray (Novruz khonchasi) is prepared. The tray is decorated with candles and holds dried fruit and nuts. Bonfires are also lit as part of the celebrations. An important Novruz tradition is to grow samani, green shoots grown from part of wheat seeds. The samani symbolize Azerbaijanis’ wish for an abundant harvest and for part of the decorations for the holiday party.

It is an unwritten rule that quarrels must be settled and people reconciled at their own initiative without a mediator. It is a sin not to forgive the penitent. 😊
On the Novruz holidays children put their caps or small bags outside the doors of houses and apartments , knock on the doors and then hide. The home owners put various Novruz gifts into the caps.

Azerbaijan is a multi-ethnic county with people of different religions. However, the tradition is so old that people of all ethnic groups look forward to Novruz and celebrate it as theirs. 🥳

INFOTOUR TO THE TANKER MUSEUM "SURAKHANY"

On November 19, Azerbaijan Tourist Guides Association organized an infotour for its members to the Surakhany Tanker Museum, which was opened on March 1, 2021 and is the first museum of this type in the world.

The museum, reflecting the history of the development of shipping and maritime traditions in Azerbaijan, aroused great interest among the guides.

This ship was not chosen for a simple reason. The vessel has made a huge contribution to the development, production and transportation of oil by sea. The dimensions of the vessel are not that small.

The length is 123.5 meters. The decision to reconstruct the ship for a museum was made in 2017. The museum consists of several halls, which are equipped with the latest innovative solutions. Visitors can get acquainted with the underwater world of the Caspian Sea, the history of the development of oil production and oil transportation. A beautiful panorama of the city of Baku and the Caspian Sea opens from the upper deck of the ship. Also, on different simulators, you can perform various tasks of mooring the vessel and moving cargo on the deck. All this innovative and modern equipment of the museum halls attracts a huge number of visitors. After a fascinating and interesting acquaintance with the history of the development of oil production in Azerbaijan, you can visit the restaurant, which offers national dishes of Azerbaijan cuisine, prepared from sea products.

Azerbaijan’s answer to Machu Picchu? Alinja Castle! 🥰

Seeing such an amazing and breathtaking scenery should be in your to do list. 🤩 First visit the museum at the bottom to discover this rich history, then climb the 1,500 steps to the summit for the breathtaking views of Nakhchivan’s epic landscape.

A medieval fortress sitting atop a cragged mountaintop in the Julfa region. The site is actually a recent reconstruction of the former fortress used by Nakhchivan’s various ruling dynasties of the Middle Ages, including the Seljuks, Atabeys and Safavids. The castle was famed for being near impregnable, though it was eventually sacked by legendary Turko-Mongol ruler Tamerlane in 1401, albeit only after a 14-year struggle. Legend has it that Tamerlane then used the castle to house his treasury and local tales claim his treasures may still be hidden somewhere in the surrounds.

Summer in all its glory, but oh how I’ve missed hiking around in misty, cold mountains. I can’t wait for the colder months to arrive, when I can wear wool everyday, and burrow myself in warm blankets after a long day outside in the cold. 🌾

Gusar, called “Northern Gates” due to its geographical location is one of those treasures of Azerbaijan which most definitely are worth the visit.
Laza village is undoubtedly Gusar’s most popular destination for both adventure seekers and those who simply want isolated, uninterrupted rest.
With its falling waters creating snow-white foam and water splash fireworks, Laza is simply enchanting everyone.
The village is populated by ethnic Lezgins -- a distinctive hospitable people, the ancestors of Leahy, whose history is linked to the Caucasian Albania - one of the oldest states in the territory of Azerbaijan.
The villagers live a normal life of mountainous settlements: conduct housekeeping, hold birds, large and small livestock.
But it’s not just the waterfalls which attract travelers from around the world, Gusar is also an excellent staging point for several challenging hikes and day trips.

📍Frozen waterfall, Griz village, Azerbaijan.
Griz village is one of the most outstanding villages of Guba region which located 2,200 meters above sea level and is about 3 hours long from Baku city.

This mountain village is located in the foothills of the Ag dagh Mountain, and on the cost of the Gudyalchay River. Griz is known with the most snow falling place in the rural settlements of Azerbaijan.

There are several springs, waterfall and cave around the village. The village is highly popular with its fascinating waterfall.

One needs to walk 3-4 km in order to reach this waterfall. It is better to walk on the mountain road, as well as, you can watch the magnificent view of the mountains. On the road you can come across a few small waterfalls.

Sun begins to melt snow in the mountain, but cold weather freeze the flowing water in the some parts of the mountain and it creates small waterfalls. It seems that the waterfall is in the cave. Flowing river does not freeze completely, but the waterfall itself is frozen, so, you can walk on it.

There are wide, narrow rock walls which have also of great importance on the road connecting of villages of Griz and Galaykhudat. The height of the rocks is about 15-20 meters, and there are places for tent camps on the foothills of the mountain.

Moreover, cold snowy nights with a clear sky and bright stars will allow you to make incredible night shots.

The residents of Griz village are one of the 26 Albanian tribes that live in South Caucasus, and since that time they speak in their own language. The population of Griz village was accepted Islam after the invasions of the Arabs to Albania. The village is also a home to one of the largest communities of Mountain Jews resided in Guba.

At present, there are only 35 houses in the Griz village. There is a large ancient cemetery in the territory of the village, which proves that the village’s history is very old.

From time to time, people move from this village due to losing contact with the city center after the weather has cooled and difficult living condition. Some of these people resided in Khachmaz region.
