Shirvan National Park, a look at nature!

08:30-Meeting around Narimanov metro station. (In front of McDonald’s)*
9:00-10:30 We are leaving Baku for Shirvan National Park
10:30-13:00 - Acquaintance with Shirvan National Park and hiking on the area
The national park has an extremely rich ornithological fauna. Rare and valuable species of birds such as bustard, swan, flamingo, etc. spend the winter and nest in the marshy areas of the park.
While visiting the national park you need to ensure that you do not disturb plants, animals, special sites or the enjoyment of other visitors. Waste causes damage to the environment and endangers animals.
The largest wetland in Shirvan National Park, the Flamingo Lake and adjacent reeds are of anthropogenic or semi-artificial origin. However, they play an important role, especially as places of rest for waterfowls and other migrating birds. Despite its artificial origin, the lake complements the nature of Shivan National Park.
You will be chance to see besides gazelles, other mammals such as foxes, jackals, hares and wolves, wild and jungle cats, lizards, snakes, badgers, beavers, jerboas, long-eared hedgehogs, bats, and turtles may be encountered at the park.

You can take canned meals you for picnic.
14:00-15:30 –Hiking
15:30-16:00 - Preparation and leaving Shirvan National Park
16:00-17:30 – Shirvan National Park – Baku highway

Goychay's pomegranates have gained international recognition as the true Azerbaijani pomegranates. The secret of the magnificent taste and quality of the Goychay pomegranates is unique microclimate and fruitful soil.
The main attraction of the beautiful pomegranates is its sweet and healthy seeds. Pomegranate contains 8-19 percent of glucose and fructose, 3-7 percent - citric acid, minerals as well as vitamins, cellulose, and pectin substances. This fruit is extremely rich in antioxidants.
Pomegranate juice improves appetite and treats anaemia and other diseases.
The king of all fruits, as it is called in Azerbaijan, pomegranate is constantly associated with fertility and strong health.
The pomegranate has been praised in the Holy Quran and considered to be a fruit of paradise. For this reason, Azerbaijanis concern this tree and its fruits as sacred.
This fruit is also honored in other religious. For the Christians, pomegranate means life and hope for eternal life, for the Jews, it represents righteousness, and for the Chinese it implies wealth and many sons.
The Azerbaijani climate, that has nine of eleven climatic zones, is perfect for pomegranate in the southern regions with mild winters and hot summers. The symbol of profusion, pomegranate has been cultivated in the country throughout centuries.
