Skywalk at Fortica is a new tourist attraction of Mostar, whose official opening is expected in the spring of this year.

About 15 meters high above the slopes of Fortica, a walking space about 35 meters long, will enrich the tourist offer of the city on the Neretva River and provide completely new experiences to visitors.

The Mountaineering and Cycling Association MTBA from Mostar is the initiator of the Skywalk project, which followed a few years ago when they completed the project of arranging the park at Fortica within which a skywalk was built, the state flag was set, and the main attraction of the park is the 570 meters long Zip Line which offers a fantastic view of Mostar.

The “Skywalk” project worth about 40 thousand marks, was implemented by the United Nations Development Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNDP BiH), with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID BiH), the Agency for development cooperation of the Republic of Italy (AICS) and the City of Mostar. The contractor is HP Investing d.o.o. Mostar.

“We have initiated a project with the desire to offer Mostar and tourists a new destination with a beautiful view of Mostar. The skywalk is an exciting way to experience this view from another perspective on Mostar,” said President of the MTBA Association Đani Rahimić in an interview with FENA.

“The works were completed at the end of last year, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as due to winter conditions and the end of the tourist season and minor visits, the opening ceremony was not organized and is planned for early spring when the tourist season begins,” Rahimić explained.

He added that they hope that this year’s tourist season will be at full capacity.

NEWS:

Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed an agreement and paid an advance for 1,232,000 doses of vaccines, while the European Union will provide additional vaccines worth 70 million euros to the Western Balkans.

BiH has ordered vaccines through the COVAX mechanism, which should cover the vaccination of 20 percent of the population, and the purchase of additional quantities of vaccines has been announced.

In accordance with the relevant COVAX procedures, vaccines will be gradually delivered to countries, as they receive certificates/permits for use from the World Health Organization, the European Medicines Agency and the medicines agency of the particular country. In the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the procurement of vaccines is coordinated by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Unlike Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Croatia, which is a member of the European Union, deliveries of vaccines have already begun, while Serbia, in addition to participating in COVAX, has concluded direct commercial procurement agreements with vaccine manufacturers.

The competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina are in constant contact with the European Commission and EU member states in order to provide additional quantities of vaccines through EU mechanisms.

The competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina are making accelerated preparations, in order to create preconditions for receiving the vaccine and starting vaccination, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH stated.

Bosnia and Herzegovina opens Borders for all Foreign Tourists
SEPTEMBER 10, 2020

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina made a decision on Thursday at its session in Sarajevo, which allows foreign citizens who have a negative PCR test for coronavirus to enter BiH, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.

The decision was adopted unanimously and will be applied from six in the morning on September 12th. The BiH presidency recently issued a decision approving entry for citizens of China, Russia, the United States and Turkey.

However, the final decision had to be made by the BiH Council of Ministers, at the suggestion of the BiH Ministry of Security.

The border is open to all foreign tourists. Earlier, the entities, the governments of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH gave their consent.

This decision was made at a time when the tourist season and holidays are almost over, so the question arises why the Ministry of Security has not previously responded to appeals from tourism workers, but also the Minister of Tourism and Environment Edita Djapo and BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic.

Until now, only citizens of EU member states, Schengen countries, could enter BiH with a negative PCR test. Citizens of Serbia and Montenegro can enter BiH without a test.
