Mostar is a city of contrasts: wide avenues, narrow stree

ts, the traditional Turkish bazaar and Parisian-style boulevards - a city in which the culture and art of the east and west meet. When the Stari Most collapsed after sustained tank shelling in 1993 it was like the heart was ripped out of most Mostar natives. Now, 20 years later, the beautiful stone structure that had spanned the Neretva River for over four centuries once again arches across its enchanting waters. The bridge is Mostar's core and life is slowly but surely returning to normal in the most beautiful city in Bosnia-Herzegovina. We depart from Split or Dubrovnik and head inland until we reach Kravica, a snapshot of paradise with its waterfalls, waterside bars and rapids. After a swim stop here we continue our drive along the valley to Mostar, “a window to the Orient” and an important trade centre during Turkish rule. A guided tour will show you the town highlights and give the chance to climb a mosque’s minaret! We leave Mostar late in the afternoon, and are dropped off back in Croatia in the early evening. Optional, we provide 50 % discount for accommodation (dorm rooms only) for guests that wish to stay in Mostar overnight and join us for our famous, Mostar Pub Crawl ( www.mostarpubcrawl.com ) . For all Mostar Day Trip guests we provide 20% discount for all out other tours & activities. Includes: Entrance to Kravica waterfalls en route to Mostar, guided tour in Mostar town (inc. entrance to the mosque and a museum gallery) and return transport to Croatia, Traditional Bosnian food ( Burek ) lunch, Beer and Fruit Brandy tasting . Today we were welcomed in the home of a young Bosniak couple who gave us the most amazingly authentic cooking/dinner party experience.

We sipped cherry brandy and white wine as we made (sometimes messy) attempts at creating traditional Bosnian dishes such as the one below; Japrak - kale leaves stuffed with minced beef, onion and a special stock seasoning brand Vegeta (a food product which has remained on the shelves since the former Yugoslavia).

We laughed at my catastrophic, inside out potato burek, got accidentally tipsy and leaned stories about the war.

What a perfect day.
