International student's must do things in the UK 🇬🇧

Firstly, congratulations on getting your student Visa and wish you a safe journey to here. As this could be your first international journey outside Bangladesh or may be the first time in the UK, I would like to share some advice/guidance to make your future days a bit easier.

1. Convert your visa into e-visa before travelling internationally. You can do it easily by yourself from here: https://www.gov.uk/get-access-evisa

2. Book accommodation before travelling here. Finding cheap and cozy accommodation is pretty tough here. If you don't book your accommodation and come here, you'll suffer a lot, if you don't have a place to temporarily stay (friends or relatives). Use websites like 'Spareroom', 'Rightmove', 'Uniacco', 'Zoopla' to find accommodation.

3. Get your sim card from the nearest supermarket or off-licence shops. Don't buy it at the airport as it costs more. Recommended Sims (Lebara, EE).If you stayed more than 3 months apply for a 'contract' SIM that helps you to build your credit score in the UK.

3. Open a Bank Account: Apply for bank accounts as soon as you secure your accommodation and have a SIM card. Home address is very important in this country because all the letters are sent to the home address. Make sure you are giving correct information while applying for bank accounts. These are two popular virtual banks that are similar to our Bkash:

Besides the virtual bank accounts, you should also have at least one physical bank's account. It's easier for international students to open accounts in Lloyds and Barclays. You can check on the internet for rewards information if any bank is offering something, before opening an account.

5. Register for GP (NHS) for medical assistance: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/gps/how-to-register-with-a-gp-surgery/

6. Right-to-work share code (some employers ask this to verify your visa status and permits): https://right-to-work.service.gov.uk/rtw-prove/id-question

7. Apply to vote 🗳️ (All commonwealth citizens are eligible to vote in the UK ) It also helps in building your credit score. This is a must-do thing.

8. Start applying for part-time jobs using these apps Indeed, Indeed Flex, Total Jobs, Read Linkedin (for internship and full-time opportunities)

9. Start building your credit score using these apps: Credit Karma, Clear Score and Experian

10. Apply for your UK Provisional license: https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence

Apply for your first provisional driving licence from DVLA online to drive a car, motorbike or moped.
