Sandwip is an island along the south eastern coast of Bangladesh in the Chittagong District. Also spelled Sandvip, the transliteration of the name would in fact be Shondip. It is part of the sub-district of Sandwip Upazila. Sandwip Island in Bangladesh has a great historical legacy. The island itself is about 3000 years old and it has been ruled by many different people over the centuries, including Delwar Khan. It was a Portuguese and Arakanese pirate stronghold during the 17th century and even today some of the architecture on the island reflects this part of the island’s history. Agriculture is the main occupation of many people on the island. They cultivate paddy, jute, potato, betel leaf, betel nut, sugarcane, radish, tomato, brinjal, cauliflower, sweet potato, carrot, etc. They cultivate fruit including water melon, mango, jackfruit, banana, papaya, guava, kul, and date. It is at the estuary of the Meghna River on the Bay of Bengal and separated from the Chittagong coast by Sandwip Channel. The island is 50 kilometers long and 5-15 kilometers wide. It is at the north-east side of the Bay of Bengal, near the main port city of Chittagong.

নিঝুম দ্বীপ , নোয়াখালীর হাতিয়া উপজেলার দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমে বঙ্গপসাগরের বুক চিরে জেগে ওঠা ছোট্ট একটি ভূ-খণ্ড। বল্লার চর, কামলার চর, চর ওসমান ও চর মুরি এই চারটি প্রধান দ্বীপ ও বেশ কয়েকটি ছোট চরের সমন্বয়ে নিঝুম দ্বীপ, যার আয়তন প্রায় ১৪,০৫০ একর। নিঝুম দ্বীপ সংলগ্ন এলাকায় প্রচুর ইছা মাছ (চিংড়ি মাছ) ধরা পড়তো বিধায় জেলেরা এই দ্বীপের নাম দেয় ইছামতির দ্বীপ। এই দ্বীপটিতে মাঝে মাঝে বালির ঢিবি বা টিলার মত ছিল বিধায় স্থানীয় লোকজন এই দ্বীপকে বাইল্যার ডেইল বা বালুয়ার চর বলেও ডাকতো যা পরবর্তীতে বল্লার চরে রূপান্তরিত হয়। দ্বীপটি সম্পূর্ণ নিরব হওয়ায় এর নামকরণ করা হয় নিঝুম দ্বীপ। দ্বীপের প্রধান সড়ক একটি। দ্বীপের এক পাশে থেকে আরেক পাশে সোজা চলে গেছে। বাজার আছে তিনটি এর মত। নিঝুম দ্বীপের মূল জনবসতির নাম হলো নামা বাজার। নিঝুম দ্বীপে বিদ্যুৎ নেই। নামা বাজার এলাকায় রাত এগারোটা পর্যন্ত জেনাটরের মাধ্যমে বিদ্যুৎ থাকে। দ্বীপের ভেতর যাতায়াতের জন্য রিক্সা এবং মোটর সাইকেল রয়েছে। তবে মোটর সাইকেলই বেশি। অনেক দ্রুত এক জায়গা থেকে আরেক জায়গায় নিয়ে যায়। দ্বীপে ঘুরার জন্য এ মোটর সাইকেল ভাড়া করা যায়। এ ক্ষেত্রে দুটি লাভ। মোটর সাইকেল যে চালাবে, সে গাইডের কাজ ও করবে। মোটর সাইকেল চালাতে পারলে নিজে নিজে চালানো যায়।

আপনি যদি প্রকৃতিপ্রেমী হন, তাহলে তো কথাই নেই। মূল দ্বীপসহ আশপাশের দ্বীপগুলোতে শীতকালে আসে হাজার হাজার অতিথি পাখি। এদের মধ্যে আছে সরালি, লেনজা, জিরিয়া, পিয়ং, চখাচখি, রাঙ্গামুড়ি, ভূতিহাঁসসহ নানারকম হাঁস, রাজহাঁস, কাদাখোঁচা, জিরিয়া, বাটান, গুলিন্দাসহ জলচর নানা পাখি, হরেক রকমের গাংচিল, কাস্তেচরা ইত্যাদি। কদাচিৎ আসে পেলিক্যান। আর বছরজুড়ে সামুদ্রিক ঈগল, শঙ্খচিল, বকসহ নানা স্থানীয় পাখি তো আছেই। দ্বীপের আশপাশের জঙ্গলেই আছে হরিণ, শেয়াল, বন্য শূকর, নানা রকম সাপ ও বানর।
পাখি বা হরিণ দেখতে হলে খুব ভোরে উঠতে হবে। হরিণ মূল দ্বীপেই স্থানীয় গাইডদের সাথে গিয়ে দেখে আসতে পারবেন। নিঝুম দ্বীপে এখন হরিণের সংখ্যা ৪০ হাজাররের মত। তারপরও হরিণ দেখতে হলে বনে ঢুকলে নিঃশব্দে চলাচল করতে হবে। সামান্য হৈ চৈ করলে এখানে হরিণের দেখা মেলা দুস্কর। জঙ্গলে ট্রেকিং এর সময় যথা সম্ভব সবাই হালকা রঙের সুতি পোশাক পড়বেন। বন্য প্রাণীদের দৃষ্টি খুব প্রখর। অতি উজ্জ্বল পোশাকের কারণে দূর থেকেই আপনার আগমন টের পেয়ে যাবে ওরা। হরিণের দল দেখতে বা ছবি তুলতে চৌধুরী খালের শেষ মাথা ভালো, ওই দিকটায় হরিণ বেশি দেখা যায়। নিঝুম দ্বীপের মতো দেশের অন্য কোন বনে এত কাছাকাছি থেকে এত বেশি চিত্রা হরিণ দেখা যায় না।
পাখি দেখতে হলে ট্রলারে করে পার্শ্ববর্তী দ্বীপগুলোতে যেতে হবে, পেরোতে হবে অনেকটা কাদা। কবিরাজের চর ও দমার চর পাখি দেখার জন্য বেশ উত্তম জায়গা। নিঝুম দ্বীপে রয়েছে প্রায় ৩৫ প্রজাতির পাখি।

Today, we are going to talk about a travel place of Bangladesh. It is Bholaganj, Sada Pathor area. For this, already we have uploaded a video of this place. It is a just normal video of the place. We hope that you will enjoy this video.

Bholaganj Sada Pathor, around 35 kilometres away from the Sylhet city, has turned into a new destination for the tourists.

The beautiful place located at the end of Sylhet-Companiganj-Bholaganj highway attracts hundreds of tourists a day.

The best time to visit the amazing spot is between May and October, especially in summer season.

To go to Bholaganj Sada Pathor, the travel lovers have to make a journey of 280 km from Dhaka by bus. There are buses available, both air-conditioned (AC) buses and non-AC from Dhaka to Sylhet. There are also trains from Dhaka to Sylhet.

"কায়াকিং" নামটা শুনতেই একটু চমকে উঠা লাগে। আর সেটা যদি হয়, বান্দরবানের সাংগু নদী তে - তাহলে তো আর কথাই নেই।

যাই হউক, অনেক সময় ও কাজের ব্যস্ততায় ইচ্ছে থাকা সত্ত্বেও দূরে কোথাও যেতে পারেন না সবাই।

তাই তাদের কথা চিন্তা করে, ঢাকার আশেপাশে আমরা একটা কায়াকিং স্পট খুঁজে বের করে ছিলাম।
