Energetic, positivity & optimism is the feeling yellow gives many and that's why I chose it for when we started 5 years ago.
And although I already owned some yellow items... it's becoming a thing now.

There's a fine brewery the heart of Bruges, a stone's throw from the Market Square: Bourgogne des Flandres.

In Belgium we don't do but in February as, after all, it's the shortest month of the year, after all the new year's receptions, to reflect / recover from our Belgian beer culture.

This N.A.DORST (nadorst = afterthirst 😅) is a refreshing non-alcoholic IPA brewed with 4 types of barley malt and 4 types of hops.
👁️ almost clear, light pale golden with a small white head
👃 citrus, grapefruit, malty, hops
👅 fresh malty, grapefruit, medium lasting bitter
🍺 light body, fine carbonation

🍁 Autumn in Bruges 🍂

First tour this morning at 10am. As one of the first groups walking around the streets of Bruges in a beautiful clear morning we found one street to be closed off and had to walk around. Only to pass by this beautiful scenic view of the groenerei (green canal) which is absolutely stunning in early autumn!

We ❤️ bicycles in Belgium. Look at these two hugging each other! 🥰

As a Dutchman, I was born on a bike, but here in Flanders it is also the best way to get around in and around cities.

The cobble stones in Bruges are harsh on 'em though. Had to replace both the front and rear mudguard last week because they vibrated into pieces - but it still is the best and cheapest way to get around!

in the city centre of Bruges is lovely progress made by !Walking around is a lot nicer and safer since two weeks!

🖼️ Family Portrait 📷 Yay! Our first proper family portrait. In almost 4 months we took close to 4000 photos of Flo, a couple dozen of her and Martyna or her an me, but only a handful of the three of us 😱 Here's a small collection 😊

She's growing like 🥬 and at 3 months & 3 weeks she already reached 66 cm and 6 kg.

🎂 Double Birthday 🎉

Two weeks ago we celebrated Flo's birthday with all my Dutch family at the day she turned 3 months 🎂 So nice to get everyone together!

Afterwards my childhood friend (and by now stepsister as well 😅) celebrated her 30th birthday and I knew I still head to head into my old hometown to get a card to go with our present 🎁

But then at the Turmac Culture Factory (to***co industry turned into cultural centre; bar, library, cinema, city hall and more) which turned out to be a fantastic location for Flo's party I stumbled upon .kreatief who just finished a workshop handlettering. Although she normally doesn't sell those cards, she made an exception for which I'm ever so grateful 🙏😁 (shout-out to my Zevenaar OG's: when you're looking for a teambuilding or kids birthday activity, remember this)

🌷💐 Bruges Flower City 🪴🌺

The city and the local shops and businesses have really outdone themselves this year!

There are beautiful flowers everywhere, in streetlights, window sills, bridges, flower pots (obviously) and the facades.

Even with a few really warm days and an official heatwave they're still looking good (plus they're properly taken care of and watered).

Makes it absolutely fantastic to walk around, to go shopping, to enjoy a Belgian beer on one of the many terraces in this beautiful medieval town 😁

Bruges Waffle by Otto Waffle Atelier. Smooth as silk in the inside with a little crisp around.
A little bit healthier than a normal waffle as it's made with oats and coconut blossom sugar in a traditional shape inspired on Bruges lace.

Normally I'm quite good at pouring beer, this Enfant Terriple d'Hiver the whisky infused winter beer by from Ruddervoorde just outside of Bruges was a gusher with a lot of foam though!

After four (!) partial pours it's a cloudy amber coloured beer with a massive -lasting- white frothy head.
Aroma: barnyard, oak, caramel, whisky and some orange.
Flavour: pretty sweet, orange, vanilla, alcoholic (especially for an 8.8% beer) and some dried fruit.
Body: well balanced (probably not from 2022 but a bit older did it well), too much carbonation and a lasting mix of bitterness and sweetness.
Overall: 7.25/10

🎄☃️ Christmas is coming to Bruges! A few more days and the Christmas/Winter Market will open.
It's Xmas all year round though at this beautiful Christmas shop , just north of the Market Square.
For now though it's still beautiful autumn weather ☺️
