Hard work pays off!
A lot is said on social media about etc etc etc.
Well, if we really mean what we say, we should put our money where our mouth is. And that's exactly what we did!
A part of our team founded the socio-economic non-profit organization Brussels. It's a new organization that helps reduce the ecological footprint of the Brussels Capital Region (Belgium) through the ecological collection, reuse and recycling of waste IT materials from companies.
Through the refurbishment and recycling of used and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), job-seeking people get the opportunity to return to a regular working life.
And the good news: .brussels got recognized for the hard work from last months!! 😊
Last week our non-profit organization Circular.brussels was put in the spotlight by , Minister of the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region, in charge of Climate Transition and Environment, and by , Secretary of State for the Brussels-Capital Region, in charge of Economic Transition and Scientific Research.
As a laureate of the ‘ 2019 Call for Projects’, .brussels has been honored as an innovative and ambitious project that illustrates the transition to a more circular economic model within the priority theme ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’.
We are very honored with this recognition and it goes without saying that with the support of , .brussels and Bruxelles environnement our organization will be able to create even more impact for the brussels environment and for underprivileged inhabitants of brussels capital region.

With its emerald rivers, scenic landscapes and well-preserved heritage sites, Slovenia is considered one of Europe’s green gems for a good reason. The country achieved 96 out of 100 detailed sustainability indicators (think environment and climate, culture and authenticity, nature and biodiversity, among others.)
, the Slovenian Tourist Board, defined the focus on green, sustainable tourism as the right development opportunity for the country and its range of tourism products. It has several programs that contribute to the implementation of sustainability at the very heart of its operations. This week will be attending the SIW, the Slovenian Incoming Workshop. It’s a network event with crucial Slovenian business partners, representatives of various tourist providers, providers of accommodation and activities, and representatives of destinations, travel agencies and destination management companies (DMC). All with a specific focus on sustainable tourism. We look forward to discovering the best travel experiences providers that Slovenia has to offer and connect them with our travelers worldwide.

Friday 17 May, it is , The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. Around the world, people are under attack for who they love, how they dress, and ultimately for who they are. In too many countries, being le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex (LGBTI) means living with daily discrimination.
This week in the city of Mechelen, where is based, a campaign is running where people are encouraged to show that there is no room for discrimination against LGBT people by taking a picture together with their loved ones on a rainbow bench and sharing it with the world. And our founder and his wife did that as well. To show that tourism industry needs to be inclusive towards the LGTB-community. Being sustainable is not only about environment and community, but also about respecting diversity, individuality, sexuality and most important...humanity.

Let’s face it: not everyone is able to travel. Whether it’s money, family obligations, or circumstance, travel is out of reach for a large percentage of the world’s population.
In the “quit your job to travel the world” cheerleading that happens so often on travel websites, we often forget that it’s not easy for everyone.
After all, 2.8 billion people, nearly 40% of the world’s population, survive on less than € 1,5 EURO a day!
Those of us who do travel are a privileged few. So it’s important to remember that we are some of the lucky ones. We get to do something that others will never be able to do.
Let’s keep that in mind while visiting other countries and cultures. They are not ours to consume. The world is not our personal petting zoo. Be grateful that you are among the lucky few.

It’s time to clear something up: Animals are NOT here to entertain us. A couple of weeks ago I (Dennis from ) was abroad. I went out for an early morning run and, on my way, I saw a nice-looking hotel, so I decided to run along the nicely laid out paths. What I discovered a minute later, was absolutely devastating! I found several very small and dirty cages, full of monkeys. The monkeys were kept just to entertain the tourists from the hotel. They were underfed, and where clearly suffering from injuries caused by malnutrition.
Animals don’t want to do stupid tricks, live in tiny cages, be movie stars, or listen to people tap on the glass of their pathetic enclosures. They just DON’T. Animals exist for their own reasons. They want to live with their families, roam great distances, and enjoy a life without fear, pain, loneliness, and suffering—just like we do.

On international’s women day we want to pay tribute to some very special women. Here you see pictures that are taken from women in sustainable handicraft workplaces in Peru. These workplaces are managed by SOLID.
SOLID strongly believes that the joining of forces between socially responsible companies and non-profit organizations is an effective and sustainable way to fight poverty in the long term. And, more specifically, to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged people on a worldwide basis.
SOLID establishes and guides sustainable handicraft workplaces where disadvantaged people can be employed in an honest way and where the focus is on highly qualitative materials and authentic handicrafts. Via Fair Travel not only shares and encourages these ideas and values, we also want to be part of this world-wide growing movement of sustainable and fair trade and employment. That’s why we recently teamed up with SOLID to promote via our platform these wonderful initiatives. KOSOVO: The first and only boutique hotel in Kosovo: Cool architecture, beautiful pool - the Hotel Gracanica could be located in Palm Springs. Kosovo isn’t, perhaps, the most obvious tourist hotspot. But now it has a destination hotel: The Hotel Gracanica.
The owners laid out the hotel in a slender “L”; the 15 rooms line the length of the edifice, each with a single wall of solid glass that looks out back onto quiet hills planted with corn, the bluish outline of Kosovo’s more mountain ranges — the Accursed Mountains — hovering beyond. The airy tranquillity of the building, which opened in 2013, evokes a kind of Balkan Grand Budapest Hotel.
The Eco-friendly Boutique Hotel Gracanica is also one of the few multiethnic businesses in Kosovo, where Albanian and Serb communities remain in de facto segregation, and is perhaps the only hotel in the world with a majority Roma management. It’s perfectly located for exploring Kosovo, with major attractions and Pristina close by and all towns of Kosovo reachable within max. 1 1/2 hours!
