OUR STORY
17 March 1967 – Company founded
Air Burkina, originally known as Air Volta, was created as a public-private joint venture following a memorandum of understanding signed between the state and the Company for the Development of Air Transport (SODETRAF). Destinations: domestic flights including Dori, Bobo-Dioulass and Gorom-Gorom. Aircraft used: Cherokee 6300
1983 – Expansion
The network
was enlarged thanks to bilateral agreements signed by Burkina Faso and its neighbouring countries. Additional destinations added: Lomé, Bamako, Cotonou and Niamey
Aircraft used: Fokker F28
February 2001 – New horizons
New horizons were opened up for Air Burkina when it was privatised and taken over by the AKFED/IPS(WA) consortium, part of the AGA KHAN Fund for economic development. In 2004, the Ouagadougou – Paris flight was introduced when the Airbus 319 was added to the fleet. Since 2010 – IOSA Certification
Air Burkina’s constant quest to meet the demands of air travel by aiming for the highest levels of international standards and regulations was recognised by the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification. Today
Air Burkina’s priority is to open up Burkina Faso to the rest of the world, in the context of transporting people and goods, to give a significant boost to its economic, cultural and human development. New Aircrafts Embraer 170
