A Carpet Factory
Just a short 10-15 minute drive from Velingrad, there’s an unassuming building that you might pass without a second glance. Modest in size, with a simple fence around it, it doesn’t stand out at first. Yet, as you approach, a friendly dog might greet you by the gate, a hint that something special lies within.
Step inside, and you’ll find yourself in a world of surprises. This is a carpet factory—but not just any factory. While they once produced carpets on a mass scale, since 1990, they’ve dedicated themselves to crafting custom-made pieces. Their clients now include some of the most prestigious names, even the Royal Household in the UK.
For me, this little factory is a perfect symbol of Bulgaria—a hidden gem, full of secrets waiting to be discovered. If you haven’t traveled here, seen these places, and experienced the warm surprises that Bulgaria has to offer, you’d never truly know what lies beneath the surface.
Have you been to this factory guys? Would be nice to hear your stories ☺️

How do you clean blankets or carpets? 😉Dear, what a question, you might say 😂 Using dry-cleaning, laundry... etc. Have a look however how they still do it in the rural areas in Bulgaria. We consider this is absolutely unique!
➡ The wooden "machine" is called bara. And using a mountain stream the "bara" washes carpets, blankets and rugs very nicely.
➡ The washing season begins in May/ June and ends in November preferably when it is sunshine.
➡ What is remarkable, such rural laundries are quite popular among the inhabitants of the big cities. They leave the need-to-be-washed stuff at the "laundries" while doing hiking at weekends and combine, thus, washing with tourism 😀
