Our Friends of Sandys Walk was held on Jul3rd & 17th and it overwhelmingly fantastic to say the least and here’s a few pics of it.

The presenters shared the history of Emancipation and Cupmatch which are two different stories but are very intricate and important to the holidays meanings!

As we celebrate these holidays it’s important to know the deep rooted history behind them and also truly honor those that came before us and who made it so! It’s also our responsibility to keep it going and make it better!

Have a great Cupmatch and enjoy!

Did you see the Powerful Performance of the show, “SOLD” based on the life of Mary Prince who was an enslaved black woman that was born in Bermuda and was also the 1st black woman to share her story of slavery and the horrendous atrocity of an institution it was!

Well if you did, you’ll agree that it was absolutely a must see and powerful performance but if you didn’t, then you missed a great show!

While they were in Bermuda, it was my pleasure to take them on the Mary Prince Legacy bus tour and it was a most enjoyable experience and honestly I can’t even find the words to explain it but we did the tour twice, lol 😂.

We look forward to this continued friendship and relationship and working with them in the future!

Tour of the Windrush generation group and Nottingham Carnival with 🎉🥳

1. In June 1948 Britain encouraged blacks from the Caribbean (Jamaica,Barbados,Trinidad, Bermuda and other countries) to come and help rebuild England after WW|| and many black people accepted the invite and came on a ship called the Windrush Empire and gave their services to Britain but unfortunately in return they got treated with racism, hostility, violence, and brutality from Britain’s White population and the Police and still today many have not received full British Citizenship but they still live in the country.

2. The Nottingham Carnival was introduced to Britain by the blacks that came from the Caribbean and most notably Ms.Claudia Jones in 1959 after much uprisings within the community against racism, violence, police brutality and also the murder of a young black men. Ms.Jones wanted the community to come together in Unity after experiencing so much pain and she created the Nottingham Carnival which still is strong and is still held every August.

History is so important because it helps us to understand the past as we move forward and to create a better future!

Anti Slavery tour in Manchester.

1. The Royal Exchange was the 1st stock exchange were deals had been made by a hand shake between the wealthy white merchants, enslavers, bankers, and and all involved in the economic prosperity and benefits of the slave trade. The Enslaved Africans were traded as commodities too (are we still?🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️)

2. The buildings were previously cotton mills that made textiles Nd fabrics etc. This was the cotton that was picked in the Southern United States of America by the Enslaved Africans and the final destination of the cotton was Manchester.

3. The picture of the tall icon is the golden cotton ball symbol which is found at the Manchester town hall.

17/10/2021

Manchester, England has a hidden history that isn’t talked about much and that’s it’s involvement and benefit from the Slave Trade and most importantly the commodity known as Cotton. The cotton that was picked by Enslaved Africans in the Southern United States of America was shipped to Manchester and was used to create fabrics in its cotton mills (buildings are still in Manchester but are apts and businesses) and this generated enormous wealth for Manchester and this was how the city was built. Many families built their wealth from this as well.

International Slavery Museum in Liverpool, here are some photos and as you can see the British Empire always starts with violence to conquer the African people. How do you still see this violence played out today?!

14/10/2021

It’s important that as Africans within the African Diaspora and descendants of the Great Maafa that we take the time to learn our history and the stories of those that came before us and we take our families and visit museums and continue to learn in order to forge a better way forward.

It’s not only imperative but essential. There’s nothing wrong with reclaiming what we have once lost which is essentially our African Mind and Consciousness and using this as a compass to navigate the world and understand it better.

If you don’t know the history, then What do you know?!
