SAVE IT FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP TO MOROCCO! 🇲🇦

Chefchaouen is definitely a city you must visit in Morocco. The Blue Pearl is easy to access by public transport or shared taxi (grand taxi) from cities like Tangier and Tetouan, also by CTM bus from Fes and Rabat.

I recommend at least 3 days in this city - this time will allow you to explore the old medina, and towns nearby.

✨ Here is a Mini Guide:

Day 1: explore the beautiful old medina, go shopping and engage with locals - salesperson here and usually not pushy and you will feel welcome 🤗
Try the local food at Bab Ssour restaurant for lunch, enjoy the sunset at the old walls of the medina or at the popular Spanish Mosque. Experience live music at the Clock Cafe or Blue Dream restaurant in the evening.

Day 2: start your day early by taking a shared taxi from the CTM bus station to Akshour and hike to the God's bridge - I recommend the trail along the river to enjoy a better view to the "bridge". You can also hike to the waterfalls if you're prepared for a more intense activity. You will find restaurants serving traditional tajine and Moroccan tea.

Day 3: on this day you can go on a day trip to Tetouan and M'diq. Tetouan is a very interesting city, with one of the Royal Palaces there, a small old medina, and a lot of Spanish influence in the architecture around. You won't find many foreigners there, even being very close to Europe and having an international airport.
To get there you can take a shared taxi to Tetouan, and a local bus (n° 35) to the beach town M'diq.

Alternatively, if you fancy more outdoor sports, you can visit the Jebel Bouhachem Nature Reserve for hiking.

If you're planning your trip to Morocco, don't skip Chefchaouen! Follow for more travel tips, and DM me if you want to save hours of planning and researching 😜

Cow's urine, pigeons' p**p, and quicklime are just a few natural ingredients used in the process of tanning hides.

In the tanneries of Fez, Morocco's Cultural Capital, hides from goats, sheep, cows, and camels are traditionally processed by hand, using techniques almost unchanged for over 1000 years.

The traditional tanning process in Fez involves three main phases:

✨ Preparation: Raw hides are soaked in a mixture of cow urine, quicklime, water, and salt to remove hair and fat.
✨ Tanning: The hides are then soaked in vats containing pigeon dung (called Channel n°5 😂) and water to soften them.
✨ Dyeing: The tanned hides are dyed using natural dyes derived from plants, minerals, and insects.

The entire process can take several weeks, and the finished leather is used to make various products like shoes, bags, and clothing.

Does this process look weird? 😂

✨ If you only have One Day in the famous Medina of Fez ✨

The former capital of Morocco is one of the main tourist destinations in the country. Its Old Medina (Fes El Bali), a UNESCO world heritage site, is the largest car-free city in the world and also is home to the oldest university.

Roaming the Medina of Fes is already a great experience. But if you want to make the most of your time, here are my recommendations:

✨ Visit Al Attarine Madrasa - a well-known Islamic school, enjoy the beautiful architecture of the building and the view.
✨ Stroll around the "Souks" and watch the many artisans, craftsmen and coppersmiths on duty.
✨ Visit the Najjarine Museum of Wooden and Crafts for a glimpse of the history.
✨ Visit the unique tanneries, but be prepared for the strong smell of leather and other things 😷
✨ Try the local pastries called "briwat" and don't miss the Moroccan tea.

⚠️ While strolling in the medina, some locals will offer to help you, or even will try to engage and walk with you. Do NOT accept it! Some will say that they don't want money, or they're just English students... In the end they will demand money from you. Also, many times they will say the alleyway is closed but it's not.

Hiking Mount Sinai wasn't on my bucket list, but it turned out to be a dream come true. When I got to Saint Catherine's, I saw the mountain range and knew I had to go.

A dark sky adorned with countless stars. Shooting stars streaked across the canvas giving me the chance to make a wish, but I only wanted to thanks for the moment.

With a deep breath, and tears in my eyes, I embarked on my journey, feeling a profound sense of gratitude for the experiences that had led me to this moment. The joy and wonder of that night are still vivid in my memory.

Despite the crowds at the summit, the sunrise was nothing short of spectacular. As the first rays of dawn kissed the mountain peaks, the sky transformed into a breathtaking palette of colors.

I've seen pyramids and temples, but nothing compares to this. Climbing Mount Sinai was a special experience. It was a truly awe-inspiring journey inward.

If you’re planning a trip to Egypt, don't miss this chance. It's a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Aswan... Though my time was brief, it was enough to feel I knew you.
Wandering the unpaved streets, staying in a simple and peaceful neighborhood, and being greeted warmly by your kids was much-needed after trying to run away from vendors in the busy areas.

PS: The last pic is also Aswan - a street similar to so many others around the world. The reality of many.

Ready to discover the hidden gems of Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷? 🛣️ This road trip itinerary covers 5 destinations in the state, with approximately 560 km of route along the coast and through the mountains.

The destinations selected here are well-known by locals but often overlooked by international tourists. So, be prepared to immerse yourself in the local community and practice a little Portuguese.

📍 Day 1-2: Rio de Janeiro City - This will be the starting point of your trip. There are countless activities to experience in this marvelous city, and you can check out my guides for a few recommendations.🗺️

📍 Day 3-4: Búzios - This is a charming resort town that gained fame after the visit of French actress Brigitte Bardot. Spend at least two days here and explore the nearby towns of Cabo Frio and Arraial do Cabo. As a local, I'm happy to share more recommendations. 😎

📍 Day 5-6: Sana - Leave the seaside behind and head to the mountains 🌄 This small town has a bohemian atmosphere and is perfect for hiking trails. Consider hiring a local guide and climbing "Peito do Pombo" for a breathtaking sunrise.

📍 Day 7-8: Nova Friburgo - This city is renowned for its European-style (Swiss influence) architecture and textile production. Enjoy leisurely walks, explore waterfalls, and immerse yourself in the lush green scenery overlooking the "Cão Sentado" rock.

📍 Day 9-10: Petrópolis - The Imperial City 🏯 is steeped in history. Around 1830, Emperor Dom Pedro I fell in love with the area where the city now stands. Later, it was planned and founded by Dom Pedro II, and populated by German immigrants. Petrópolis is also known as the retreat town of aviation pioneer Santos Dumont. Today, this mountain retreat attracts visitors from all over Brazil seeking tranquility, mild weather, and adventure in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park.

✨ Finish your road trip by returning to Rio, where you can enjoy more of this vibrant city!

Have you ever heard of the term "slow travel"?

I used to keep myself busy during my travels, wanting to make the most of my trips by exploring and experiencing everything I could. It was exhausting in the end.

Then I decided to slow down, adding more free time and fewer activities, no matter what I might miss. I realized we don't really have to do everything that looks cool, but what we consider a priority for us 😉

Now, as a seasoned traveler and a travel planner, this is what I advise my clients when planning their vacation or travels. This is my advice for YOU! Find the balance between exploration and relaxation! Don't feel guilty for not visiting some must-see attractions.

We live in such a fast-paced life that we don't need a fast-paced trip.

Let's savor the time we have; it's a gift! 🎁

What do you think are the benefits of slowing down during travel? Have you ever had a similar experience?
