Saint Patrick, who lived during the fifth century, is the patron saint of Ireland and its national apostle. Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people.
In the centuries following Patrick’s death (believed to have been on March 17, 461), the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in the Irish culture: Perhaps the most well-known legend of St. Patrick is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock.

The Bahamas Is Celebrating Its 50th Year of Independence in 2023

Chester Cooper, deputy prime minister and minister of tourism, investments, and aviation, in an exclusive interview with Travel + Leisure. “Across our 16 unique island destinations, from Nassau Paradise Island and Grand Bahama Island to our unspoiled Out Islands, visitors are met with a rejuvenated spirit, ecological wonders that must be seen to be believed, and in 2023, grand cultural celebrations."

A quick history lesson for context: The Commonwealth of the Bahamas was originally settled in the ninth century by the Lucayan people who came north from the Caribbean. It was officially dubbed "San Salvador" by Christopher Columbus in 1492 and, through subsequent centuries, changed hands among the British and Spanish. In 1783, the British solidified power, and in 1834, slavery was abolished in the nation. After centuries of varied rule, on July 10, 1973, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas declared its independence.

Christmas in Bahamas
It’s the carnival time for the people of Bahamas. For Christmas and carnival are quite synonymous for the Bahamas. And this mood of carnival is often streaked with secular colours and tinges. However the spirit of Christmas would remain incomplete without exchanging gifts and cards amongst each other. Further it can be rightly said that feasting and singing melodious carols also add another feather to their spirit of celebration. For about a week before Christmas Day carollers go out in the evening, singing carols in public places in order to welcome the moment of festivity with full vigour. Some of the favourite Christmas carols which savour the mood are "Christians Awake", "Salute the Happy Morn" and many more.

Pull off your best Captain Jack Sparrow impression and head to the filming site of The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise at Gold Rock Beach at Grand Bahama Island. This large island (530 square miles, to be exact) is also a perfect vacation for those looking for Beaches, night life and shopping. The island's two main cities, Freeport and Lucaya, have everything you need, including remarkable restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Be sure to also go snorkeling with a large number of tiger sharks at Tiger Beach.

Steven's property was beyond our imagination. You walk in the front door and look right through the living room and see the Caribbean Sea. You can walk out on the balcony and take in the sight and sound of the gorgeous blue/green clear water. I spent many an early morning (often wrapped in a large towel due to the chill) watching the sun rise. Then, I would look at the moon and stars at night. You can step out the side door, go down one flight of stairs and across the sand and are in the sea in about 3 to 5 minutes. This is a small apartment complex but I never saw anyone on the beach in the two weeks we were there. There is an outdoor pool to use in the complex and had the thing to ourselves. Moving on into the house, there was a fully stocked kitchen. Very comfy couch and chair in the living area and a nice table for meals. Each room was lovely and the bathroom had a vanity bigger than my home in Maryland. There were tons of towels and extra linens. This place is magical! I cannot write a review without mentioning the wonderful property manager, Christine. She was SO awesome and responsive and provided such great info to make our vacation perfect! The only thing I would mention to anyone planning to stay at this fabulous place is to rent a car during your entire visit. It is a bit off the beaten path (which makes it so wonderful) but also means not very walkable but not so far that you cannot easily get to shopping/dining. I understand there are taxis and buses but did not see either and it made more sense for us to rent a car. We used a local rental company recommended by Steven and Christine-more affordable than the big-name rental companies (and they pick you up and drop you off at the airport). If you are looking to visit Freeport, you MUST reserve Steven's lovely place!!! We want to return (like now)!

It was nothing short of amazing! Best location and extremely kind locals right there. Pool is very clean and nice .Felt like our own private beach. Def recommended renting a car. Taino beach for the day (if you have kids) and Bishops is a must.

Please book here! Steven is awesome and makes sure your vacation is perfect. Condo was clean, plenty of towels, beds were comfortable and waking up every morning to a beach sunrise and sunset is incredible. Highly recommend!!

This was our second week in the Bahamas we enjoyed the nice view .The condo has a good pool and some really good fishing areas .Steven was a great host we did communicate mostly every day .The apartment was very well maintained .
