We are going Bhutan : March 10-17
Visiting Bhutan is like going back 15-20 years, stepping into a different world altogether, leaving our cities and fast life behind, and just absorbing peace, calm in the beautiful mountains and valleys.
On this trip, we are trekking to the magnificent Tigers Nest Monastery, built dangerously on the very edge of a tall cliff.
We are going to see the Takin - the national animal, a cross between a goat and a bull.
We are going to buy stamps with our faces on it. We are going to one of the highest passes in the country and Dochula, where the wind is so strong that it threatens to blow you off the mountain, and the views are gorgeous.
At nights, we are going to huddle and sing songs, dance and play games.
We are going to stare at hundreds of stars in the sky; going to run across rope bridges and dash to the crystal clear water of Bhutanese rivers; going to flick stones to see who can bounce them the most in water, and who can throw the furthest.
We are going to visit some beautiful monasteries and hopefully it Will teach us a thing or two about compassion, love, Buddhism and sensitivity. We are going to sample Bhutanese cuisine and Bhutanese err beverages to put it politely.
Mostly we are going to fall in love with, what is called, the Happiest country in the world.
