"Bhutan the land of thunder dragon"
Independent of our country drive back to eons ago. Till 17th century even though we are independent, our country where ruled by poenlops and Dzongpoen in different district but in 17th century long beard man zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal came to Bhutan and he unified our country, on top of that he started with the construction of fortress(Dzong) in our country and started with Dual system in which Desi as a head of secular (administrative) body and Chief abbot as a head of religion. Till birth of Wangchuck dynasty, our country was ruled by 54th Desi and 60th jekhenpo(chief abbot). In 1907 all the people of Bhutan came together and they started with the hereditary monarchy by appointing Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck as our First Druk gyalpo( king) of Bhutan.
Till 2008 our countries system of government is hereditary monarchy, But as time passes by our visionary leader Fourth Druk gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck gifted Bhutanese by giving them right to choose their government through voting and then our form of government was changed to Democratic constitution Monarchy, where head of the government is prime minister and head of religion is chief abbot and above all we have king as head of country.
