9 December 2023:
A very auspicious day indeed.
Her Royal Highness the Gyalsem has been named Sonam Yangden Wangchuck.

Sonam is a Bhutanese name denoting merit, longevity and good fortune. The name Yangden, meaning precious jewel, signifies prosperity and wellbeing.

The naming ceremony was held at Tashichhodzong on the anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the Golden Throne in 2006. The ceremony was presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo. His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Their Majesties the Queen Mothers and Members of the Royal Family were present for the ceremony.

Representatives of the Dratshang offered Ku Sung Thugten Mendrel. The Dzongdas, Thrizins, and Lam Netens of twenty dzongkhags, representing the people of Bhutan, made buelwa offerings.

Her Royal Highness, the third child of Their Majesties The King and Gyaltsuen, was born on September 9 this year.

Being the youngest king just as 16 to being recognized globally for the Gross National Happiness policy there is no end to how we be grateful but to the citizens the greatest act above all the compassionate, wise leadership was when our fourth king lead the army to defend our country in 2003. No wonder this special birth was prophicised in an ancient treasure text and so we adress his majesty THE GREAT FOURTH, KING OF DESTING , THE BODHISATTAVA KING. Just the name self is magical like in all languages "Ma" is for mother and it is mostly the first word uttered by the baby.

As the Buddhas mother passed away after she gave birth, she was reborn in heaven so after the Buddha got enlightenment he went to the heaven where his mother was reincarnated and gave teachings to all the gods there.
Later he came back to earth on request of the people since he had been away for some time.
We believe on this day (9th month of the 22 day of the Lunar Calander) the Buddha came back to earth.

when we understand it better it is for us to be greatful to all the blessings that at times we take for granted. Even to cook a simple meal we need water, fire/electricity, rice , vegetables,salt,oil etc....if one is not there then only we realise how important all these conditions are to appreciate and be greatful of how things are related. So if we are greatful it means we understand the value which is a greater awarness . When we pay gratitude it lights a positive impact on how we look at things with the right view, how we grasp things with right intention, how we speak with right speech, how we do things with right action,right livehood,right effort,right concentration, right mindfulness. With gratitude we can be a better person.

Today marks the end of Monsoon with the change of season to Autumn and time for harves after which the fields are prepared for Winter crops. The colours of nature start change eventually from lush green to golden brown , it becomes colder and the days are shorter. Almost every locals prepare to dry red chillies and chillies blunched in hot water called "shukam" for the winter after the rain which pours down few days coinciding the on, before and after the special day.

At home we fill buckets full of water sprinkle some flowers and leave it outside to get the blessings as we believe that the gods pour down the blessings in form of rain which clenses all impurities and negitive energy where ever it touches.
Everyone takes bath or at least wash their head with the water and specially the children ask for the flowers to get the most of the blessings.

This year the blessings came quite early and it has been pouring down but it's special and we believe it is going to be a fruitful year ahead after all the rain really blessed us this year.

We send our best wishes and share the profound blessings to all the family, friends , far and near . THRUEBAB TASHI DELEK LA!!!!!

9th September 2023: We are honoured to share the wonderful news that a healthy baby girl has been born to Their Majesties, The Druk Gyalpo and Gyaltsuen today, coinciding with the 25th day of the 7th month of the Female Water Rabbit Year, in Lingkana Palace, Thimphu.

Both Her Majesty and the Royal baby are doing well.

The new-born Princess is the third child and first daughter of Their Majesties.

Their Majesties extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical team of dedicated doctors and nurses, the Zhung Dratshang for all the prayers conducted and to everyone for their well wishes.

Introduction of Incentives for the Tourism Sector

The Royal Government of Bhutan is pleased to announce additional incentives and policy measures to boost the tourism sector. This is in view of the important role of the tourism sector in generating employment; earning foreign exchange; realizing the potential for spillover benefits for ancillary industries; and in boosting overall economic growth.

The incentives and measures shall consist of the following:

1. A fifty percent discount shall be granted on the prevailing SDF of USD 200 for US Dollar paying tourists visiting Bhutan. The effective SDF with the discount shall be USD 100 per person per day for US Dollar paying tourists.

2. In addition, a fifty percent discount on the SDF shall be granted on the rates applied to children aged between 6 to 12 years for US Dollar paying children visiting as tourists.

3. The 24 hours SDF waiver for tourists staying in the border towns shall continue.

The above incentives will come into effect from 1 September 2023 and shall remain effective for four years till 31 August 2027.

The Royal Government shall conduct periodic assessments of the domestic and international tourism scenarios and may discontinue the above incentives to uphold and promote High Value Low Volume Tourism Policy of Bhutan after 31 August 2027.
