Ta***ic practices, mysticism, masks, choreography and music are all symbolic and believed to have their roots in Buddhist rituals. There are mainly three kinds of dances, some of them featured during festivals; religious dances that are performed by monks; secular dances performed by lay people; and oracle dances performed by oracles. There are more than 150 festivals in Bhutan.

We are exactly 10 days from the start of our 2022 Drukyul's Literature Festival. We'd like to share session title cards like this over the next 9 days so you know when your favourite sessions will take place!

We'll start our festival with our Royal Patron, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Gyalyum Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. In the session, Indian thriller writer Ashwin Sanghi and Her Majesty reconnect over shared memories as Sanghi talks about the research that goes into writing his books.
