A walk for a cause, Emma Slade, the founder and CEO of “Opening Your Heart to Bhutan,” a registered UK charity, is taking on a challenge, a difficult one. Widely known as Ani Pema Deki, she will walk the 400-kilometre-long Trans-Bhutan Trail. Her goal is to raise Nu 35 M to support children with disabilities.

The renowned Swiss light artist, Mr. Gerry Hofstetter was in Bhutan since December 17, celebrating our National Day with breathtaking light art projections. Together with his team and our local collaborators, he has illuminated iconic landmarks such as the Buddha Dordenma, Paro Dzong, Punakha Dzong, and Paro Taktshang, beautifully highlighting Bhutan’s cultural and spiritual heritage. This is yet another expression of the enduring friendship between Bhutan and Switzerland..

Bhutan has been awarded the ‘Best Healing Travel Destination’ title at the annual Best BANG Awards 2025 in Beijing, China.

The Department of Tourism received the award earlier this month.

The award highlights the country’s ability to offer rejuvenating travel experiences through its serene landscapes and spiritual heritage.

The Department says the recognition underscores the nation’s ‘High Value, Low Volume’ approach and inspires them to continue promoting transformative and sustainable tourism experiences.
