Bhutan launched its National Service, Gyalsung (loosely translates to guardians of the nation) today. A Royal Vision turned into reality by His Majesty The King.
Without a doubt, this will go down in the history of Bhutan as one of the greatest milestones in nation building.

A closer look at Kinzang Lhamo’s last leg of the Olympic marathon.
Some are saying this is an Olympic favourite moment- crowd cheering & the “guard of honor” presented for Kinzang Lhamo who was the last to complete the marathon has been described as an extraordinary moment in live sport.
Bhutanese living in Brussels including the Ambassador of Bhutan in Brussels can be seen running along her side cheering her on 🔥. Crowd chanting “bravo, bravo, bravo.”
Bravo, Kinzang Lhamo, bravo!

"There is an element of valuable novelty, of something exceptional, about visiting Bhutan that, once lost, is difficult if not impossible to recapture. Bhutan has a quality that many countries have long lost -- a special mystique about the place that is sustained by the relatively low number of people who have actually visited. In the words of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck: “People who make it to Bhutan feel privileged to be our guests.” Indeed, what Bhutan offers carries a unique resonance with the deepest
human yearning to be closer to culture and to be able to appreciate nature in its glorious, untarnished state. This is something precious and deserves to be preserved," Koh Buck Song.

Landing at the Paro International Airport
Here’s an old footage of the Chief Pilot of Bhutan Airlines , Mr Chenga, showcasing Sam Chui how landing is managed in one of the most challenging airports in the world, Paro International Airport.
Source: Sam Chui’s YouTube channel. Sam Chui is one of the most well known aviation commentators. When he uploaded this, his audiences were blown away by Chief Pilot Chenga’s expertise combined with his cool & nonchalant manners.
Some comments read:
“Captain Badass is hand flying, in a descant path, curving through the mountains while pointing at all the monasteries like he’s a tour guide. What a legend.”
“Love this captain. Turns off GPWS, prays, and then starts hand flying through a canyon pointing out the sights. What an amazing guy”
“That is the most stable unstablised approach I ever saw. Awesome!”
“The captain exudes confidence, knowledge, ability and humility. I immediately felt relaxed watching the video and would place my family lives in this man’s hands. The brief prayer is a touch. Best of luck Captain Chenga”
“His stick and rubber flying was so smooth and precise it looked like a well choreographed dance….true high quality airmanship here folks!”
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TAG CAPTAIN CHENGA?!

On HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck's birth occasion, we would like to share HRH's opening address during the Smithsonia Folklife Festival in 2008- delivered with charm, wit & clarity. We do not call HRH the Prince Charming for nothing :)
Happy Birthday, la.
The Bhutan program at the prestigious 2008 Smithsonia Festival was the largest and the most comprehensive celebration of Bhutanese life and culture ever presented outside of the kingdom (then). One hundred and fifty Bhutanese participants provided Festival visitors an unparalleled opportunity to see, hear, touch, smell, and experience life in the “Land of the Thunder Dragon.”
