Today is one of the most auspicious months in Buddhist calendar. It is the First Sermon of Lord Buddha. It falls on the 4th day of the 6th month of the Lunar Calendar. On this day Buddha Shakyamuni first taught the Four Noble Truths in Sarnath, India, and first turned the wheel of the Dharma.

The Four Noble Truths comprise the essence of Buddha's teachings. They are the truth of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering.

It is a holiday in Bhutan and the day is celebrated by offering prayers at home, visiting temples and monasteries, and hoisting prayer flags.

Praying for all sentient beings 🙏.
