Visited Tag Rimochen with hiking guru friends, The name 'Tag (Tak) Rimochen' means 'an impression of tiger's stripes'. This naming is based on the mysterious vertical yellow stripes that stain the dark rock cliff behind the constructed temple. This temple is of great religious significance as it is believed that this is where Guru Rinpoche meditated along with his consort Yeshe Tsogyal. The body print, hand print and footprints of Guru Rinpoche and his consort are embedded on the huge rock in front of the lhakhang as well as the stairs leading to the temple.It is also believed that there are many wishing stones as well as a hidden invisible doorway here. The Tiger STripe Temple or Tag Rimochen Lhakhang was constructed by Pema Lingpa during the 14th century, in order to make this sacred place a site of pilgrimage.
