8 MEDITATION TECHNIQUES FOR BEGINNERS
When people think about meditation, they usually imagine a room where a person sits alone and tries to empty his head of all thoughts. This is not a very attractive picture for everyone. In fact, meditation is much simpler and more pleasant, and most importantly, it is more useful than you can imagine.
Meditation is an effective practice of relaxation and concentration that frees your mind from thoughts and anxieties, soothes you and keeps your thinking in order. Regular sessions of meditation increase your mood, teach you to relax and not react to stress, help in combating bad habits, strengthen your will and character, and improve your focus, memory and intelligence.
Most importantly, meditation develops in you a healthy critical ability, the ability to look at the surrounding things and also at yourself, soberly and unbiasedly, relieving your perception of the shrewd of illusions. So, if you do not know how to meditate, we are here to help you. Below you will find a list of 8 meditation techniques for beginners.
#1. Choose a convenient time
Meditation is a relaxation time, so you should practice it at your convenience. Choose a time when you can leave all your things and plans behind to relax and enjoy. The hours of sunrise and sunset, while nature transitions between day and night, are ideal for the meditation practice.
#2. Choose a quiet place
Choose a place where you can relax without disruptions. A quiet and peaceful atmosphere can make the meditation experience for the beginner more enjoyable and relaxing.
#3. Sit in a comfortable posture
Posture plays a big role in the meditation practice. So, make sure that you are relaxed, comfortable and steady. You should sit straight with your spine erect, keep your shoulders and neck relaxed, and eyes closed throughout the process.
#4. Keep a relatively empty stomach
The best time to meditate is before eating. Having a meal before meditation can make you sleepy. However, you do not have to be hungry during meditation either. So, the best time for meditation is two hours after a meal.
#5. Start with a few warm-ups
Warm-ups or sukshma yoga exercises before sitting to meditate helps improve circulation, removes inertia and restlessness and makes the body feel lighter. Do not skip this step, because you will be able to sit steadily for a longer time.
#6. Take a few deep breaths
A few deep breaths are the preparation for easy practice of meditation. In fact, deep breathing before meditation leads the mind into a peaceful state.
#7. Keep a gentle smile on your face
A gentle smile on your face during meditation keeps you relaxed, peaceful and enhances your meditation experience.
#8. Open your eyes slowly and gradually
Completing the practice of meditation, you should not rush to open your eyes and start moving. You should open your eyes slowly and gradually and take time to become aware of yourself and your surroundings.
Take just a few minutes out of each day to bring yourself to a state of calm and wellness and balance your life using a combination of guided meditations and mindfulness techniques
