The 7th century Tibetan king Songsten Gampo is said to have built 108 temples in one day and Jambay Lhakhang in Bumthang is believed to be one of them. The Jambay Lhakhang Drup is one of the most interesting events held in Bumthang. During this festival, the chams (dances) include Terchham (Naked Dance), which was formerly initiated by Terton Dorje Lingpa, Mewang, Macham, Ging Tsholing, Dramtse Ngacham, Zhana Cham etc,. The dances are performed by the local villagers. The festival will be held from 15th to18th November, 2024.

The name and fame we carry as Bhutan and Bhutanese is all due to our visionary Kings and their farsighted plans and deeds for the country. We owe them all our body, mind and speech.

We enjoy the carbon neutral environment and the world envies us. This is all due to our great 4th who took his crown at a very young age of 17 on 02.06.1974 and shouldered the unimaginable responsibilities of bringing our country to the present state.

Royal Heritage Trek; Encountering Tiger's pug marks at Tulila, the pass (4000 msl) between Bumthang Domkhar, Gaytsa and Trongsa Kuenga Rabten. The Royal Ancient trail boasts of a blend of significant valued history, traditional mores and royal anecdotes which date back to as early as the 1950s. The trek traces the historical route King Jigme Wangchuck, the 2nd King of Bhutan, used when moving from his summer residence, Wangdicholing Palace in Bumthang, to his winter residence, Kuenga Rabten Palace in Trongsa. The Royal Family and its entourage moved in a majestic procession with hundreds of followers and riding horses trekking over the mountains. The journey took just three days then. And Today, we took nine hours to trek from Gaytsa to Kuenga Rabten Palace. The views throughout the trial is amazing and it is a must trek.

The festival starts on the 10th day of the 8th lunar month every year. These religious event play an important role in the lives of Bhutanese people as it is an opportunity for them to cleanse themselves from bad karma. The festival is performed as a tribute to Guru Padmasambava, a great Buddhist master who brought Buddhism to Bhutan in 7th century. Hundreds and thousands of people including tourists gather to witness the three day long festival every year.
