Bhutan qualifies for 3rd round of Asian Cup Qualifying 2027 as the top-ranked losing team in the first round of FIFA World Cup/Asia Cup Qualifiers after defeating Hong Kong 2-0 at Changlimithang Thimphu.

This means despite losing against Hong Kong, China in 4-2 aggregate, Bhutan football national team exited only from the world cup race. But Bhutan has guaranteed it's place in Asia Cup Qualifying 2027 being the top team among those who lost recently concluded first round and dragon boys will play at least 6 home and away games as part of Asia Cup 2027 qualification process.

Process: 24 teams (one best ranked losing team from first round (Bhutan) + 18 third and fourth-placed teams from the second round + 5 winners from the play-off round) will be divided into six groups of four teams to play home-and-away double round-robin matches and the winner of each group will occupy the remaining six slots for the Asian Cup (AFC).

The Jigmechhu Eco-tourism site in Chhukha, Bhutan, received the prestigious "Most Performing Community Tourism Destination" award during the fifth edition of the Himalayan Hospitality and Tourism Awards. This accolade is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the tourism department and the dzongkhag administration in fostering community-based tourism for local economic upliftment. Renowned for its natural splendor and diverse wildlife, the site particularly attracts visitors during the winter season.

Under the stewardship of two community groups, Jigmechhu provides campsites, homestays, and unique 'tree house' lodges, positioning it as a potential international tourism hub with additional investments. The site attained eco-tourism status through the Tourism Flagship Programme, backed by an investment of around Nu 1.5 billion, geared towards catalyzing regional development through tourism.

A 2020 assessment report underscored Jigmechhu's rich biodiversity, establishing it as a pivotal driver of economic growth in the dzongkhag. Home to more than 300 bird species, including the endangered White-Bellied Heron, as well as peacocks, barking deer, various hornbill species, and numerous butterflies, the site is locally known as Majathang due to the prevalence of peacocks.

Visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of experiences, including homestays, birdwatching, tongba drinks, fly-fishing, and a trek to Ami Nye, a pilgrimage site dedicated to the local deity Aum Yangtham. Plans for a cycling track and rafting services are underway, and the eco-tourism site has sparked a revitalization of Jigmechhu town with the establishment of new shops.

Despite these successes, the region faces challenges such as adverse climatic conditions, challenging terrain, limited water supply, and low agricultural productivity. Wildlife crop damage and constrained market access are substantial hurdles. The surge in visitors has led to waste management issues, and water scarcity necessitates the closure of the campsite during the monsoon season from May to September.

Several organizations, including the Royal Society for Protection of Nature, Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators, Nature Conservation Division, Bhutan Foundation, and HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, actively contribute to the promotion and advancement of the Jigmechhu Eco-tourism site.

The black-necked crane is an important cultural symbol in Bhutan, where it is considered a sacred bird by the Bhutanese people. It is also an important ecological indicator of the health of high-altitude wetlands, where it spends most of its time during the winter months.

In Bhutan, the black-necked crane is primarily found in the Phobjikha Valley, which is located in the Wangdue Phodrang district. This valley is an important wintering habitat for the cranes, as it provides a suitable environment for them to roost and forage.

Every year, the arrival of the black-necked cranes in Bhutan is celebrated with a festival known as the Black-Necked Crane Festival, which is held in the Phobjikha Valley. The festival is an opportunity for the local communities to come together and celebrate the conservation of these beautiful birds, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of protecting their habitat.

Despite their cultural and ecological significance, the black-necked crane population in Bhutan is under threat from habitat loss and degradation, as well as other human activities such as hunting and disturbance. Efforts are being made to conserve and protect these birds, including the establishment of protected areas and the promotion of sustainable tourism in the Phobjikha Valley.

During the festival, monks and laypeople come together to perform traditional mask dances known as cham. The cham dances are performed to honor Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, who is said to have introduced Buddhism to Bhutan in the 8th century. The dances depict stories from Buddhist mythology, and the costumes and masks worn by the performers are intricately designed and colorful.

Apart from the cham dances, the PARO Tshechu also features various other cultural and religious events, such as the unfurling of a huge thangka (a religious painting), the display of sacred relics, and the offering of prayers and blessings. The festival is a significant event in Bhutanese culture, and people from all over the country come to Paro to participate in the festivities U Travel Travel Fanpage Ugyen Nima Bhutan UNDP Bhutan UNICEF Bhutan Bhutan Geographic Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines UNICEF UK TPOH: The Pursuit of Happiness Well Come to Kingdom of Gross National Happiness.-BHUTAN Insider Travel Happiness Kingdom Travels PriceTravel.com Must Do Travels FoodTravel Plus Ch3Thailand UNICEF USA TimesTravel Pursuit Of Happyness

Wood carving is a highly popular traditional art form in Bhutan, a small Himalayan kingdom located in South Asia. Bhutanese wood carvings are renowned for their intricate designs, detailed patterns, and unique style, which have been passed down through generations of skilled artisans.

Wood carving has a long history in Bhutan, dating back to the early days of the country's formation. In the past, Bhutanese wood carvers were primarily engaged in creating religious art pieces such as statues and thangkas, which are religious paintings on silk or cotton. These pieces were commissioned by monasteries, temples, and wealthy patrons, and were used in religious ceremonies and festivals. However, over time, wood carving evolved beyond religious art and became an integral part of Bhutanese culture and daily life. Today, wood carvers in Bhutan create a wide variety of items, including furniture, decorative items, and household utensils, which are used in homes and sold in markets.

Bhutanese wood carvings are known for their intricate designs, which are inspired by the country's rich cultural heritage and natural surroundings. Common motifs include dragons, birds, flowers, and geometric patterns, all of which are intricately carved into the wood. The popularity of wood carving in Bhutan can be seen in the numerous wood carving schools and workshops throughout the country, which teach the craft to aspiring artisans. The Bhutanese government has also recognized the importance of wood carving as a cultural heritage and has taken steps to preserve and promote the art formUNICEF Bhutan Bhutan Geographic UNICEF UK Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines Well Come to Kingdom of Gross National Happiness.-BHUTAN Happiness Kingdom Travels Insider Travel Must Do Travels PriceTravel.com FoodTravel Plus Ch3Thailand UNICEF USA TimesTravel U Travel Ugyen Nima
