The three-day Annual Chhukha Tshechu begins from tomorrow, 5th November. The Tshechu will be held in the Dochey (courtyard) of the Majestic Ngoedrup-Tse Dzong starting with Chipdrel at 8:00 AM. The program includes various mask dances and folk dance by the Dzongkhag dancers. A flower exhibition and flower sale is organized by the Dzongkhag Beautification Sector. There will also be a Dzongkhag theme dance performance by the sector staff on the second day. On the third and final day, the Thongdroel will be unfurled. All are invited to be part of this unique annual event.

THE BLACK NECKED CRANE FESTIVAL, (11th November, 2019)

The annual Black-Necked Crane festival is celebrated at the courtyard of Gangtey Goenpa in Phobjikha valley. The festival is an occasion for the locals to rejoice and celebrate the arrival of this endangered and majestic bird which becomes an inseparable part in their daily lives during the winter months.
The annual blacknecked crane festival is organized to generate awareness and understanding on the importance of conserving the endangered Black-Necked Cranes. The festival includes cultural programs such as folk songs and dances (some with black-necked crane themes) and mask dances performed by the local people, crane dances and environmental conservation-themed dramas and songs by school children.

THIMPHU TSHECHU

One of the biggest festivals is the Thimphu Tshechu. This festival is held in the capital city for three days. The Tshechu is witnessed by thousands of people, both local and tourists. The actual Tshechu is preceded by day and nights of prayers and rituals to invoke the gods.
Mask dances like the Guru Tshengye ( Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche), Shaw Sachi ( Dance of the stags) and many more are performed.

WANGDUE TSHECHU

The festival is held in Wangduephodrang and is observed for three days in the autumn season. The tshechu is well known for the Raksha Mangcham or the Dance of the Ox. Many different kinds of mask dances are performed during the festival. It concludes with the unfurling of the Guru Tshengye Thongdrel (large tapestry).

The second Bhutan Birds Festival (BBF) will be held in Tingtibi, Zhemgang from November 11-13, 2019. The BBF intends to encourage local community of Zhemgang to protect their rich forest and conserve high diversity of wildlife.
Zhemgang is a popular birding destination.

The most awaited annual Laya Run for 2019 is scheduled on 23rd October. The marathon will cover 25 kilometers starting from Ponjothang and ending in Langothang. This run is said to be one of the most scenic high-altitude runs in the world. The runners will also get to experience semi-nomadic life style and have lots of immersive experiences.

The run is open to all and it will take first 100 participants (70 male and 30 female) based on the first come first basis. For registration you can contact 16288124.

17 June, 2019: His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen offered prayers at the Tashichhodzong on Duechen Ngazom.
Namgay Tongchoe prayers are being held at the Kuenrey of Tashichhodzong, presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

Duechen Ngazom, or Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana, falls on the 15th Day of the 4th Month of the Bhutanese calendar, and marks the 5 significant events in the life of the Buddha.

In the image, hundreds of devotees visit the Dzong to view the Neten Chudru Thongdrel and offer prayers.
