Bhutan Association for Rangers & Foresters (BARF) will be non political and non profitable professional association in Bhutan. It is a forum where foresters can bring their collective thoughts and efforts for enhancing the prestige of their profession. Its motto is to establish prosperity and progress of Bhutan's forestry and foresters. It has a mission to see sustainable natural resources conserv

ation and management through scientific approach. The association will also guide its members to work in their professional capacity to ensure the perpetual flow of productive, protective and social goods and services from land, forests and biodiversity resources for general well being in perpetuity. The BARF aims are to provide a forum for Rangers & Foresters of Bhutan to share their successes and failures in protecting the nation’s pristine environment and to promote information and technology toward the conservation of natural resources. It will be also a professional body supporting Rangers, forester and other professional officers involved in the conservation and management of our natural and cultural resources. As a guardian of our natural and cultural resources, Rangers & Foresters are first on the scene of illegal or unsustainable exploitation of these resources, often at great personal risk. Our Rangers & Foresters require special support structures, training and equipment to carry out their jobs.BARF will seek and generate seed money through membership registration fees, donation from NGO's Offices and other international organization in order to provide training, capacity building and exchange programs to its members in order to ensure Rangers & foresters are well trained and properly equipped to manage the nation's most pristine natural resources. The BRAF will be the voice of Rangers, & Foresters in the national and international community, in calling for greater support for Rangers & Foresters in carrying out their vital role in the protection of our natural resources. BRAF also have the plans to celebrate "Foresters Day" every year. Different awards like "Best Foresters Award" ,Awards for best forestry students from Different forestry colleges and training institute who has performed excellent in different subjects in Institute of Forestry. Objectives of BARF
The main objectives of BARF are to:

• The BARF will provide a platform to frontline forest staff of Bhutan to share their experience and knowledge at regional and international forum through Ranger Federation of Asia (RFA) and the International Ranger Federation (IRF).
• The BARF will help in developing the professional competence of the members.
• Boost the morale of the members;
• Enhance awareness among general public about the importance of the scientific management and conservation of forests, soil and watershed, wildlife and biodiversity;
• Exchange information on forestry and related natural resources issues with national and international institutions.
• Provide expertise services on forestry, and related natural resources and environmental issues to persons, institutions and/or government.
• Play a leading role in assisting and advising the government to formulate sound natural resources management policies
• Organize conferences, workshops, seminars, talk programs to discuss and suggest policy and technical matters on forestry and related natural resources issues.
• Conduct research activities in forestry, natural resource management and environmental issues.
• Support the family of Rangers & Foresters killed or injured in the line of duty.
• Celebrate World Ranger Day

• Executive Board: The BARF will have as executive board to run BARF activities. One executive board will be valid for three years and will have following members;
• Chairperson
• Vice Chairperson
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Admin officer
• Annual meetings: The BARF will organise an annual general meeting every year to update the members, award the best performing staff and to formolise the annual strategy for coming year.
• Executive Board selection procedure: Executive board selection will be done every third year through democratic election at the annual general meeting.
• Focal point: The BARF will nominate one focal point from the executive board to coordinate and communicate with RFA and IRF.
• Type of members:
• General members: Foresters and Rangers working the Bhutan Forest Department
• Supporters: anyone who supports the ranger cause can become the supporter
• Associate member/Advisor: The BARF can invite protected area, enforcement and wildlife professional to join BARF as associate membe/advisor to provide technical support to BARF and help in fund raising for BARF activities.
• Membership fee:
• General Member: 100 Nu/year
• Supporter: No limit
• Associate member/advisor: by Invitation only



We will rely on the financial support and assistance of our members, partners and supporters as well as people like you all to assist these front-line conservationists, and in so doing give hope for the future of the world’s natural and cultural treasures.Your donation will:

• Support the family of a Ranger & forester killed in the line of duty.
• Support a Ranger &forester injured at work.
• Raise the profile of rangers & foresters and the issues they face
• Provide training to rangers & foresters to improve their ability to manage the resources in their care.
• Sponsor a Rangers & Foresters to attend a seminars be it in country or ex-country
• Increase the number of member associations;
