The Africa Youth In Tourism Innovation Summit & Challenge (AYTIS) 2025 will be held in Nairobi on June 10th-13th. Yesterday's official launch at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre was a resounding success. 45 BOTSWANA TOURISM Operating Businesses participate at Africa's Travel Indaba at the Botswana Tourism Organisation Stand.

Africaโ€™s Travel Indaba takes place from the 14th โ€“ 16th of May 2024 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC Durban), Durban, South Africa. This tourism fair plays a significant role in the growth of the tourism sector, showcasing the widest variety of Africaโ€™s best tourism products while attracting travel buyers and media from across the globe.

Botswana Tourism has facilitated and will host a total of 45 local tours companies. under its banner to promote and sell their products and packages to the global travel market. The Botswana tourism local suppliers range from small to large scale tour operators offering different products and services including accommodation providers, mobile safari operators, and travel agents, amongst others, all specialising in inbound travel to Botswana.

This record number of Botswana operators participating at Indaba is a demonstration of how Botswana is taking its place in global tourism seriously and employing all strategies to stimulate travel which has started going up on a strong recovery.

During the event, BTO will hold high-level stakeholder engagements to discuss matters that affect travel to Botswana and will also meet regional tourism authorities as we continue to collaborator in driving regional travel as well as collaborate within the tourism space. Additionally, BTO, alongside the local tour operators, will hold pre-scheduled meetings at with various global tourism partners and clients.

Exciting News for Travelers to Botswana! Ethiopian Airlines Launches New Passenger Flights to Maun!

We are thrilled to announce that Ethiopian Airlines will commence passenger flight operations to and from MUB Maun, Botswana, starting from June 10, 2024 via Luanda, Angola. There will be a brief one-hour stop in Luanda; however, passengers will stay on the plane during this layover. This exciting development will offer travelers even more options to explore the breathtaking beauty of Botswana and its incredible wildlife.

Here are the details of this exciting new service:

Flight Schedule:
Addis Ababa to Maun, Botswana (UPDATE, into Maun direct from Addis, flight Maun to Addis via Ndola)
Three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday
Aircraft: B738-MAX
Effective Date: June 10, 2024

In addition to Ethiopian Airlines' new service, travelers can also look forward to enhanced connectivity from Windhoek, Namibia, with FlyNamibia's flights to VFA Victoria Falls. Although the connection between Windhoek and Maun has been postponed until April 2025, these upcoming routes will further improve access to beautiful Botswana.

Africaโ€™s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines is set to introduce scheduled flights into Maun, the main access point for Botswanaโ€™s Okavango Delta region.

Ethiopian Airlines will introduce scheduled flights to Maun, which serves as a springboard into the Okavango region.

Flights begin on 10 June operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays using a Boeing 738-MAX.

Ethiopianโ€™s new triangular route will connect Addis Ababa, Ndola, and Maun.

Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), in collaboration with ZimTrade, will host a Botswana โ€“ Zimbabwe Business Forum, Business to Business (B2B) meetings as well as a mini-exhibition between Botswana and Zimbabwean companies on the 8th February 2024 in Maun at Maun Lodge. The main objective of the forum is to explore investment and trade opportunities, promote Botswana as an investment destination of choice, as well as facilitate possible joint-venture partnerships. BITC therefore invites interested companies to register for the Business Forum and mini exhibition.
